Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    sychronization errors...

I am having learning pains with these list controls. I am trying to sychronize data from the detail view of a child list but get this error. When I do as the error suggests I get no data in the child list WTF...

You are trying to synchronize data in a child List, but you have not checked the 'Pre-load data' property for this List. Please edit the definition for the 'LIST2' List and check the 'Pre-load data' option.

I guess I was trying to load too many records into the jason data holder. When I turned on pagination in the lists it seem to be working OK now.

OK this is getting ridiculous. Every time a take a step forward I get a major setback.
Anyone know why my short time fields are not formatted correctly?

in the list it shows the fields as type (S) short time.
      2014-11-08_18-27-47.jpg
in the detail view I have the time fields set up as short time.
      2014-11-08_18-35-46.jpg
When I synchronize it throws an error and shows the field type as type (C).

I am stuck here and already way over the time it should take to get this done.

I edit these fields from grids and other ux components with no problem. It seems to be limited to lists with detail views.

        Re: sychroniztion errors...

Here is the latest. I don't know how much more of this I can take. I need to get the disconnected data model working. I have burnt up almost 10 hours today. I did learn some new things but I don't think the disconnected data model is quite ready for prime time. I am following the videos and examples. I am not perfect but I can follow an example. I had most of it working with the exception of the data type error I mentioned before and the fields not refreshing after synchronizing.

I looked at the pre-release notes and saw some bug fixes that seemed to relate to the some of the problems I am having see below.
So I decided to give the pre-release a try (I know). big mistake! After installing the new release I tried to run my UX and got this rude message:
        2014-11-08_21-13-47.jpg

So I decided to try to fix the issue so I went through all of the lists made sure that the was NO ambiguous reference to slid. I tried each list and was able to preview the data ok. Re-published and still the same error. I'm not sure of what I can do now. I will have to roll back but I still cannot use the ux because of the other issues. What a major disappointment.

        Bugs

UX Component - List Control - Detail View - Incremental Refresh - Fixed an issue with incremental refresh in the case where the UX had multiple Lists in a parent-child relationship and the top-level parent List was based on a SQL statement that joined multiple tables and the top-level List pre-fetched the data for the child Lists.

UX Component - List Controls - Data Type Casting - The List Control allows you to cast the data type in any List column to a date object, number or logical value (by setting the Transform data type property on the Fields pane in the List builder). However, after data in the list was updated, or new rows were added to the List, the data casting rules were not being applied to the new data.

UX Component - List Control - Detail View - Editing a Value that Was Previously NULL - A change has been made in the SQL that gets generated when you edit the value in a field that was previously NULL.

          Re: sychroniztion errors...

Finally some headway. I have changed all of the tables with joins to views and it seems to be more stable. I have had to change my time to 24 hour format in the time picker which is not ideal but at least I can save a record. The display in the list is in 12 hour format which I can't change and the display in the detail view before I do an edit is in 12 hour. Still a bit confusing for the end user so hopefully this can get resolved.

I have also installed the latest patch (again). Now using the views I don't have the ambiguous column issue and it has resolved the refresh after synchronization. yea.

At last it is all coming together... after 13 hrs give or take a few minutes. I wish I had sorted out the table with join issue earlier... anyhow using 1 ux control with all of the lists contained therein is definitely the way to go. No passing linking values to other uxs. I will have something to show on Monday. tfg
