Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Newbie questions mobile (odata and security)

    Hi,

My experience is developing web Applications using .NET and IronSpeed.

Been evaluating Alpha Anywhere for only one day, trying to grasp the concepts and possibilities to develop mobile phonegap APPS. Looks really promising so far. Looked into some 5 other Tools the last 6 months without any conclusions yet on mobile roadmap Ahead.

    Have two questions so far:
    (1) The framework for Security With login (user and password from database) as demonstrated on video for web Application, does it also work "out-of-the-Box" in a phonegap mobile APP?
Found some threads on this forum which indicates the opposite.
    (2) Is there "out-of-the-Box" option for Connecting to RESTful /ODATA API?

    Thanks in advance

    Kristian,
Have a look in the webcomponents <UX> templates and check the option Security framework logincomponent mobileapp that will give the answer how alpha runs it inside phoneGap.
Second option you can also the alternative logins for Facebook, Twitter etc.
About Odata you mean version 3 or 4 i know it's on the roadmap attach other datasources like odata but no date is available, also there is no out of the box connector for Rest API but it can easly done. From one i know the complete apps was written with only REST . Also for this to my understanding perhaps somewhere 2015.......

      Thanks for fast response! :)

      Regarding:
      (1) I will look into the Security framework you suggest. Really hope the Security framework is somehow transparent out-of-the-box so I can be sure the point-and-click configuration on every page ensures Security.
      (2) The RESTful API data Access is also on the Product roadmap for IronSpeed but don't know p.t. when it will be released. Also tested DevExtreme Mobile from DevExpress and they have RESTful datasource out-of-the-box, but they lack point (1) above.

So far I'm really impressed With what I've seen in Alpha Anywhere. Not beeing an expert on mobile Technology and javascript, the low-code concept is what I looking for. But before selecting the Development tool for the future I need to see that all needed elements for applications in production is right there to provide rock solid Products.

Like you i have seen what other vendor put in there framework as you say DevExtreme, Syncfusion etc. Beside Mobile or not dive into A5 and see that is offers complete oposite to the other. I think due to the frequent update and response with bugs etc A5 has the best vendor response in a fast mobile world change day by day. Compared by the others the community is very strong and sold, i.a.w. you don't have to wait 2-4 weeks for an answer. Check also what is under the hood by example the Node js engine. In the earlier days A5 would been called a RAD tool but that does not longer extist, the complexity of scripting of types of levels makes that impossible but that sounds for all vendors in the mobile market.

Thanks again and yes I'm really excited with A5 so far! :)

          Another question.
          - During testing I added Norwegian text to "Static text" Control containing Norwegian characters like . It didn't show correct in working preview or live preview, it shows correct when entered in tool. Do I have to set character encoding somewhere?
