I have three grids that are successively linked: Grid1 is a list of vendors, Grid2 is a list of inventory items along with editable fields that is populated with items belonging to the vendor chosen in Grid1. Grid3 contains inventory levels at multiple locations for the items listed in Grid2.
My problem is that once I navigate to a vendor other than the first one listed in Grid1, and then place the cursor in a field in Grid2, when I then hit the up or down arrow key, while in Grid2, the records selection in both Grids 1 & 2 & 3 change simultaneously. In other words, the record selection changes in all three grids at the same time. This doesn't happen if I just stay on the first vendor that is selected when the grid loads on working or live preview.
How do you confine focus to one grid at a time so that keypress events only affect that one grid?
And a related question: how can you control subtle cell to cell navigation actions within a grid? For example: if your cursor is in an editable field, when you press the down arrow, how can you get the cursor to drop into the same field in the next record below? I am trying to mimic the data entry behavior of an old Access application. When it comes to editing/entering data, it's the navigational behavior among the fields that make all the difference in the world as far as the application being usable. I don't see any obvious way to control things like tab sequences, etc.
Hoping the Alpha community can point me in the right direction here!
Thanks!
