_repeatingSectionLogicalToPhysicalRow() returns a negative number

I made a simple UX with 2 fields to test this.

It has a repeating section with one field.

The repeating section initially displays 5 rows.

This javascript should return the physical row number for the active row:

var activeRow1 = {dialog.Object}.getRepeatingSectionActiveRow('REPEATINGSECTION_1');
activeRow = {dialog.object}._repeatingSectionLogicalToPhysicalRow('REPEATINGSECTION_1',activeRow1);
alert('Current active PHYSICAL row num: ' + activeRow);

However, if I delete the 5th row, and select the 4th row, it should return a value of 5. But it returns -1.

I thought perhaps activeRow is a string, so I tried this:

var activeRow1 = {dialog.Object}.getRepeatingSectionActiveRow('REPEATINGSECTION_1');
var activeRow = Number({dialog.object}._repeatingSectionLogicalToPhysicalRow('REPEATINGSECTION_1',activeRow1));
alert('Current active PHYSICAL row num: ' + activeRow + ' Type: ' + (typeof activeRow));

Same result.

Am I missing something?

Joe, as you've written your code, this is behaving as expected and as the documentation states. I'll use shorthand to represent the 2 methods you're using... GRSAR and RSLTP

With your 5 RS rows... as you've shown, GRSAR and RSLTP return the same values. However, when you delete a row, GRSAR, the way you're using it, includes deleted Rows.

So, when you Delete Row 4... you "see" Row 5 move up... but... it's still Row 5. Using RSLTP to map Row 5 to a Physical Row must return a new Row... -1... because there is no Row 5 any longer.

What you want is to include the options flag in GRSAR...

var activeRow1 = {dialog.Object}.getRepeatingSectionActiveRow('REPEATINGSECTION_1', true);

The doc says... "To get the logical row number (which ignores deleted rows), specify true for the optional second argument."

Now... when you delete Row 4 (out of 5) and then use GRSAR on the "new" Row 4, GRSAR will return 4. Then, use that with RSLTP and you will get Row 4.

You are certainly correct. I am using this in a more complex script, looping through the rows using javascript.

I had actually tried the true parameter, and it did not fix my problem. Because that was not my only problem.

I found that I have a logical/physical row number problem in another part of the script, which I just identified.

A followup question...

var fieldValue = {dialog.Object}.getValue('Field:4'); returns the value in the Field control in Physical row number 4.

How do I obtain the value from Logical row 4.
