Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Seeking Paid Mentorship

I am looking to pay someone on a one-time or monthly basis to mentor me in the ways of Alpha. My company is in the construction business and the company president has a vision of creating a mobile web app that would allow for his partners, managers and employees handle all aspects of quote generation and job tracking. I have been tasked with this, initially as an Access Web App, but that just did not fit our needs. Alpha is our solution, but I am very green when it comes to Alpha, JS, XBasic, CSS, etc...

Some of the initial things I would want to learn would be how to use Ajax callbacks more effectively, variables based off of controls that determine default sort and filtering on lists, and how to sum values from multiple records (like a SUMIF function in Excel).

So far I have most of the A5wpages, UX components, web security and MySQL tables created, along with a working domain and hosting by ZebraHost.

Please feel free to contact me as a reply or private message me to get my phone number or email.

      Thanks Stephen.

I already contacted them about a week ago but did not hear anything back except for an automated message. However, someone from there did reply to this post already.

        Jack,

I do not see any message from you on IADN, either from the ContactUs page or the official Project Request page. Are you sure you sent a request/message at iadn.com?

Please note - if we cannot make contact within a week, we will reluctantly remove your project request from our records.

Feel free to contact us directly if you have additional information or need immediate assistance.

            BCJack:

I have purchased many of IADN's offerings over the past few years and I have had nothing but GREAT experience with their support. Don't let your initial experience with the website detract to what they bring to the table. I have utilized their Web Framework with many of my projects and whenever I had an issue, it was responded to quickly and met all of my needs. I highly recommend them.

NOT A PAID ENDORSEMENT!!! I just really think highly of Steve Wood and I appreciate all of the time and effort he has saved me.

Jack, I fixed the communication error on the IADN Project Request. I was the hang up -- In my attempt to "vet" each project, I fell behind. So now instead the project request info goes out immediately to the Developers as soon as it is submitted. I did however hide your request as I understand you have something in the works with one of our members.
