Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Phongap Build Dead?

    Morning,

Bit out of the loop but I did see about the changes for submitting to Apple but I thought Android was a go still.

Today I was on my phonegap account and it says I am using 15 of my 1 available applications. (Free Plan). I was on a $10 paid plan. It looks like they stopped billing that in December.

Now it looks like I can't upgrade to that account again, and without a paid account you can't get any real support from Adobe.

Anyways so I now get the Private app limit exceeded error when submitting apps.

Is it officially dead and I need to setup my own build environment? Or does someone know a work around?

I'll update this for anyone else that has this issue.
In short my subscription was cancelled due to a billing error. There is no way to reactivate an account that has been cancelled according to Adobe billing or sales. And no way to sign up to the service again.

Looks like I will need to setup a local build service, unless someone is aware of an alternative.

I am in a similar situation.
Before I dive in, how difficult is it to set up the local build services?
(Admittedly I'm trying to avoid learning anything new)

        It's not terrible.

There is a new tool to check if you are setup properly in the pre release build. It doesn't work for me though (I am setup but it shows false)

I had some issues, mostly because my dev client is running on an emulated machine (AWS workspace). So things are installed in locations that aren't visible to other programs, I can't run Android studio emulation etc. But the CLI build is working.

If you are running on a normal system you should have no issues.

Do be aware if you've previous installed any of the required components (java etc) and you install the new ones you may have system variables you set years ago that point to the old ones. Delete the old variables.

Mobile developing is today a hard job. Requirements change fast so many have give up and use other options.

There is few other options available. Do you really need a device installed app or is a web application enough for mobile. You can check here what web can do. (Note that you can also by pass some limitations using third party services for example twilio for sms).

An other option is to use Alpha Launch. That will continue to work.

One option is also to use Alpha Transform which now has also single license available. You really can actually build apps because it has tpl and for example json support for third party servers and you can design your app to work offline. Connectors are available and role management.

          And then there is pwa.
