Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    show hide panels in panelnavigator defined as tabband

    Recently this feature was added:

    "The PanelNavigator is commonly used in building mobile applications. This control, when in Carousel mode allows you to swipe through a series of PanelCards in the order in which the PanelCards were defined. However, in certain applications you might want to dynamically turn a PanelCard off or on so that it is skipped when swiping through the PanelCards in a PanelNavigator.

    In this video we show how this is done.

    I tried to do the same when in tabband mode, and that didn't work.
    However, I'm not on the last build and cannot test it right now on the last build.

    Can somebody who is at the last build please clarify wether it is only possible if a navigator is in carousel mode, or that in the lastest build it also works in tabband mode?

    (I know of the removepanel option, but that I cannot use, really need to be able to toggle visibility).

    Thanks in advance

    You can always download the latest build and install it into its own folder, then run the executable from that folder. Just because you download the latest version, you do not have to run all of your apps in that latest version, only the ones you want.

    Of course, if you host your apps remotely, you will need to download the corresponding Alpha Web App Server. Just make sure that you run the development copy and the Web App server in sync.

      Thanks Jay,

      I know, but that takes right now too much time for me. Wil have to wait until we are on that version and use a work around until then.

      Kind regards,

        Can you put the controls in a container and simply show/hide that based on your needs?

          Thanks Charles, unfortunately not. At that tab of the tabband I load another ux in a panel of the the panelnavigator. It's that action I want to prevent. In some cases I don't want to do that, and I have a flag for that.
          As work around I now test that flag and instead of loading aI display a message.

          But of course a much more elegant solution would be to hide in those cases the tab (and the space it takes in the tabband!) altogether.

            For future people searching the forum, this is the code to hide a panel, and in turn, hide the panel tab from a tabband navigator:

            Code:
            var pNav = {dialog.object}.panelGet('PANELNAVIGATOR_1');
            pNav.removePanel('PANELCARD_1');
