Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Repeating Section - Logical vs. Physical Rows

I am terribly confused by this concept (Logical versus physical rows). The documentation isn't helping me either: https://documentation.alphasoftware.com/documentation/pages/Ref/Client_Api/UX/UX%20methods/setRepeatingSectionActiveLogicalRow%20Method.xml

    From the documentation...
    "
The logical row number of a row in a Repeating Section and its physical row number are the same, unless rows have been deleted from the Repeating Section."

"for example, assume that a Repeating Section had 5 rows to start with and then the first three rows were deleted. There would now be two visible rows, (logical row number 1 and 2), but the physical row numbers for these two rows would be 4 and 5. In order to set focus to the last visible row in the Repeating Section (logical row 2, but physical row 5) you can use the .setRepeatingSectionActiveLogicalRow() method."

huh??? ... I've read this page probably 20 times and I don't get it. I'd love to see a diagram to better understand this. I can read all day but I understand concepts so much better (and faster) with pictures/diagrams.

Bottom line is I need a method do give me the active row for all conditions. {dialog.object}.getRepeatingSectionActiveRow() only works if no rows have been deleted. Otherwise it returns some other value.

There's 5 rows - 1-5 you delete the first three. this leaves 4 & 5 in place - those are the "physical rows" SO now in order to set focus to the physical row 4 you can use the .setRepeatingSectionActiveLogicalRow() method.
I am confused by your question though as I don't know what you mean by "give me the active row for all conditions"
Are you trying to set focus to a particular row?
I think perhaps there is more to what you want to do than just set focus to a particular row...just not sure!

remember that the rows are only hidden so physically - there's still 5 but logically all you see is 1 & 2 so to set focus to what you logically SEE you would write this (from the example)
{dialog.object}.setRepeatingSectionActiveLogicalRow("REPSEC_1",2); to set focus to the last row (of the 5 physical rows) in a repeating section called REPSEC_1

I'm returning a value to the active row. {dialog.object}.getRepeatingSectionActiveRow() works for me so long as no rows have been deleted. If the user has deleted a row how do I know which row is active now? The methods you describe require me to set a row value in the second parameter. But I don't know the row because a row has been deleted and now {dialog.object}.getRepeatingSectionActiveRow() doesn't give me the actual active row number.

Sorry, I'm struggling to understand this.

I figured out my issue. If I add the parameter 'True' to the {dialog.object}.getRepeatingSectionActiveRow() method then everything works out as expected.

          Thanks for chiming in Charles.
