Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Expanding Menu built from XBASIC, I need to set on-click event associated to a Branch not just a leaf

Another way might be to use a third party tree, such as jsTree, this can be loaded by JSON and supports multi level events

Yes, I have done that successfully before, Looks and works perfect. I am building a complex SAAS application suite, Not all menu items will be used by all clients. I was looking for an easy way to manage what the customer sees for a menu. I will deploy a different solution using arguments or session variables and/or security features.

I think the way of achieving this is to move away from the xbasic route and use the menu data genie in the expanding menu control and build it yourself, each branch can have its own action which is programable and also opens the leaves which in turn can be programmed

    Hi Lance,

    Thank you again. These were the videos I watched originally in order to set up my xbasic function and ux controls/actions for building my menu from an SQL query in Xbasic. The problem is the way it is set up, Only the last leaf of the menu is clickable with an action.. I am trying to build a menu which involves embedding other UX components into the main ux which is essentially the login and menu with a panel card as a place holder for ux called by an action associated with clicking on a menu item. My menu sql table has a 2 main columns one for a primary UX control and one for a control that may be under a primary. For instance, Primary choices include an Employees table. In my sql menu table this would not have a secondary control. I also have a training UX component, This by itself is a stand alone UX control but there are other associated UX controls for setting up training requirements. In the SQL menu table I wanted to show training as a primary and the ux components for managing the training requirements to be in a secondary column in the menu table. When rendered, the menu that is built looks great. I just can't click on the primary items. The Training menu item has a drop down list of ux component reference names that are clickable but the main item 'Training' is not clickable. I can solve the problem by putting everything under a general primary name but this doesn't yield the user interface I wanted. This is a bit rambling. I hope it makes sense;

    Hi Steve,

On the web projects control panel, on the top control bar, over to the right click the videos button. This will open the video finder with, after it has updated approx. 934 videos. in the filter box start typing in EXP the list will filter down and you should see UX Component - Expandingmenu Control (2), click on that then view the two videos labelled UXEXPMENU--2 this should be enough to get you going.

The Expanding menu works as expected, the endpoint (final leaf in the tree) can be programmed to do what you want, the branched above that open the corresponding branch/leaf. I have found if you have a lot of branches it will take a while to render as it has a lot of JSON to process.

Good morning Lance. Thank you for your response, I have seen most if not all related videos on the YouTube channel and those I have found on the Alpha site. I haven't been able to find one with a UXEXPMENU--2 reference. Can you provide a pointer? To be clear, If I build an expanding menu manually, I am able to assign a on-click actions to any level of the menu, Following their example for using a sql table and xbasic to build the menu, the code provided does not build a menu that allows clicking on the top branch, only the subitems (leaves). Does this video address this?

I am trying to create an expanding menu from an xbasic callback and I am able to get it to look right. My problem is only the leaves under the branch in the menu have on click events. Is there away to set branch to have an on-click during the xbasic expanding menu creation? Not all of the menu items will have leaves.
