Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Twilio issues all of a sudden ...

Is anyone else having issues with Twilio this morning? All of a sudden, SMS messaging is not working, which also makes two factor authentication not work.

My Twilio SMS seems to be working fine right now (2pm CST). I did have a single SMS with a 500 response at 9:05am this morning. Coincidence maybe ... probably not. They probably had a brief outage.

Thanks Mike. Makes sense. It started to work again a little later.

FYI, I received this message from Twilio:

Impact of Twilio connection issues earlier today
        Dear Twilio customer,
Twilio suffered a set of broad-based connection issues earlier today. Many of our APIs started failing around 5:25 AM PST. Services affected include Programmable Messaging, Billing, Conversations, Flex, Chat, Super Sim, Verify, Authy, Console, Autopilot, Studio, Phone Numbers, and Billing. (Note that Programmable Voice, including voice calls, and Email on our platform were unaffected.)
We began recovering from these issues by around 7:15 AM PST, and most new API traffic was restored to normal by about 7:30 AM PST. You can review more details about this incident on our Status page.
What do you need to know?
We know that you have a lot of questions regarding the incident. While we work on researching the root cause and getting a full picture of the customer impact, we have started a Knowledge Base article to capture product-specific FAQs.
What do you need to do?
Nothing at this time. We apologize for the impact this incident has likely had on your organization. We are immediately researching root causes, and strive to make improvements in order to avoid similar outages in the future.
        Sincerely,
        Team Twilio

Have you seen this message? What does it mean? Do we have to anything about it?
U.S. A2P 10-digit Long Code Fee Waiver & Registration Timing Update
            Ahoy!
You are receiving this message from Twilio because we have identified you as a customer who sends messages using 10-digit phone numbers (long codes) in the United States as a “direct brand” (a company sending messages as yourself, and not on behalf of other businesses).
Both Twilio and AT&T understand the U.S. A2P 10-digit long code transition is a tidal shift for many of our customers. There are two major updates:
            • As of April 1, 2021, you can begin registering in Twilio’s Trust Hub. This date has been pushed back from March 1, 2021 to ensure reliable message delivery from the moment you onboard.
            • Twilio will cover the cost of AT&T carrier fees for two months, until May 1, 2021. We strongly recommend you register at the first opportunity, in early April, to take advantage of the new routes, capabilities, and throughput, for free, until May 1, 2021. You will have until June 1, 2021 to complete registration.
There will be no additional filtering or blocking of unregistered traffic enforced on March 1, 2021.After June 1, 2021, unregistered traffic will be subject to additional filtering and blocking.
            How will you be impacted?
            • Starting April 1, 2021, registration will allow you to take advantage of reliable routes and increased throughput.
            • Both registered and unregistered traffic will not incur AT&T carrier fees until May 1, 2021.
            • If you are not registered by May 1, 2021, Twilio will only pass on an additional carrier fee of $0.003/segment for outbound SMS and $0.0035/segment. This is a lower rate than AT&T’s pass through fees for unregistered traffic at $0.004/segment for outbound SMS and $0.005/segment for outbound MMS.
            • If you are registered by May 1, 2021 when fees go into effect, you may be subject to lower AT&T carrier fees depending on your use case. Please see the complete list of use cases here.
            • After June 1, 2021, fees will depend on campaign type. AT&T’s fees vary from $0.002 to $0.004 (SMS) and $0.0035 to $0.005 (MMS).
What do you need to do?
            • Start by reviewing our onboarding guide to understand what’s required for registration. At the same time, continue to collect required information from your customers. You can find a table with the required information within this support article.
            • Starting on April 1, 2021, register your Primary Customer Profile in Twilio’s Trust Hub.
            • After you complete Primary Customer Profile registration, register your profile for A2P Messaging and begin registering your Campaigns.
If you have additional questions, please refer to our support article.
            Sincerely,
            Team Twilio

If you are an ISV (Independent Software Vendor) who provides messaging capabilities to one or more clients with their own brands, and are not a Direct Brand, you will follow a different onboarding process.
