Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

UX Component Builder doesn't fit completely on screen

Although I noticed this quite a while ago, it really didn't start to bother me until I started moving from grids to UX components.

The problem is that whenever I open the UX component builder, it won't fit on the computer screen completely, so one side or the other always gets cut off. Using the standard windows "expand" or "full size" button does not fix the problem, so I find myself constantly moving the builder around on the screen so I can see both sides of it.

At first I thought it had something to do with my screen resolution or that fact that I am still using a standard size monitor on my development machine as opposed to a wide screen monitor, but the resolution is at the recommended setting and switching to a wide screen monitor did not make any difference.

Does anyone else have this problem or am I the only one??

    Hi,
    I don't have this issue...
What's the screen resolution you are using?
    I use 1920 x 1080

      1024 x 768, but it won't go any higher.

Looks like you are using Alpha via teamviewer? ....my guess is that is where the problem lies. What OS is that? ...looks like win 2000 or me.

My alpha fits in the screen just fine (1920x1080).

I lowered my screen resolution to that and got the same problem. Looks like if you can't go any higher than that then you're stuck with it.

Have you tried setting the Teamviewer scaling to Full Screen under View|Scaling?

              Thanks all.

Teamviewer is not the problem, because when I view the component builder on a monitor connected directly to the server (which is were I do my development work), I get the same results.

It must be that the resolution is limited to 768x1024, although it's weird that none of the other component builders have this problem, just UX's.

And yes to both options within Teamviewer, but neither one makes a difference. :(

Re: UX Component Builder doesn't fit completely on screen

Rich, I am thinking that the proper display drivers have not yet been installed on your server.
Once you do that you will be able to go to a higher resolution.
Sometimes I come across that same issue and that is what I do in order to rectify the problem.

                    Hi Rich,

I'm using a program called Remote Utilities and have the same or a similar problem. In my case, when my mouse is on the "remote part", the whole "remote part" moves. Makes no difference what is on the remote screen. Since yours 'only' involves the UX component itself, thesse might not be related but in fact 2 different problems. Then again............
                    TYVM :) kenn

Knowing what you can achieve will not become reality until you imagine and explore.

Ken makes a good point ...Windows Remote Desktop also hides the remote part of the window and the other computer's desktop will fill your screen.

                        Thank guys.
Robert I set the server up a few years ago with the factory installation discs, so I would assume the proper drivers are installed. Nevertheless, I will check for updated drivers.

Mike remember that I have this problem even when not using remote desktop.
