Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Not Currently Connected to Database (SQL)

Still getting my feet wet switching from DBF to SQL, and I'm having a problem with my first UX component. I created a report based on an SQL view and it works fine with hard coded filters. Now I've created a simple UX component to run the report, and there are only fields I am using to filter the report, "Month" and "Year," both of which are fields in the view.

I used the SQL filter builder as shown below to create my two filters which have drop-down boxes for the user to select from:

But when I try to run the report, I get this message every time:
    Screen Shot 04-18-21 at 10.14 PM.JPG

Yet I can create a local filter and it works fine:

Wouldn't it need to be connected to the database for a local filter to work? I can't figure out why I'm getting that "not connected to database" message?

You show everything except your connection string to your sql database.
Presuming you have that properly configured, then it's either your database is offline or there is
    some kind of connection/permissions issue.

Thanks for responding so quick, and sorry for not including the connection string. Here it is:

And here are my bindings: (Inc_Month & Inc_Year) are the fields in the table.)

If it helps, I made a grid as a test to perform basically the same function. In the grid I have two search fields, "Month & Year" and it works fine so I assume that means the database is not offline? I just can't get it work in a UX component.

I think you need to define the data connection for the report as well.
What happens if you try to preview the report ?

I can preview the report just fine, and as I said, as a test, I built a grid component to do basically the same thing as the UX, and in the grid, I can select the Month and the Year, and the report appears and filters correctly, so I know the report itself is connected to the SQL database and displaying records fine. I just can't it to work with the UX component.

I'm sorry Richard. I did not see anything suggesting you were able to preview the report (right-click the report and choose preview).
I did see the UX bindings, as well as the reference to testing connectivity using a grid.
Let me do some testing with AA instead of V11 to see if I have the same issue you're describing.
