Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

maps api Geocode causing MAJOR bottleneck

This is an advanced issue for sure but I am open to any suggestions!

The UX has a list on it and also an embedded UX (on a panelcard) that has a button on it that has a geocode action on it when clicked. I think this is related because of the calls that are "Stalled" according to google developer tools auditing.

This UX takes sometimes almost a minute to load and it really isnt a complicated layout and does not have any custom xbasic etc.
So I started looking at the timing to see what was the hold up (using google dev tools) anyways the following calls are stalled out.
This is where the bottle necks are. Does anyone know why this might be and what I could do about it?

The following URL's or calls are being made when the UX loads and although they eventually load they are creating quite a hold up, like 55 seconds!

    https://maps-api-ssl.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=true&libraries=geometry&callback=A5.map.init
    https://maps.gstatic.com/maps-api-v3/api/js/21/0/main.js
    https://maps.gstatic.com/maps-api-v3/api/js/21/0/geometry.js

Running the same UX in a tabbed UI it loads very slow as well and these 3 are the top offenders taking longer than a minute to load.

Seems crazy to me that this would be anything I could fix as an Alpha user.
    what say you guys?

I just checked one of my apps. (Play Video) all seems to work fine. Also what build are you on?

      ah, I am on a pre-release!

No - I'm on the most recent pre-release as well.

I had a map in panel card that I was geocoding with a button. I removed it and speeds improved, calls are no longer made. I will try to re add and see if this repeatable.

            Hi Charles,

In my mobile app I have a map that is displayed in a tab pane. It looks up the address with an address & zip field at some point during start-up. Now that I am not pre-loading data the whole thing loads in a couple of seconds. 7 lists and a whole bunch of other stuff. I am using the old version, yesterdays build.

hmmm, pre-loading data. Do you mean in the list?

Re: maps api Geocode causing MAJOR bottleneck

Yes, I was just mentioning that that map and all load in a couple of seconds.

Actually my map does not get created until the user clicks on a row in the parent list. The child pane with the map is loaded and displayed in less than a second.

Before when I pre-loaded data it would take approximately 6 seconds for the initial list to display. This may not seem too long for some but it was too long for me. I think I may have been overloading the local storage on the android devices as many screens seem to 'hang' a little. I have given up the flexibility of having pre-loaded data for now. I will get back to experiment with pre-loading and see if there are some tweaks to fix things again when I have some extra time.
