Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Having Major Issues with Latest Stable Release Build 7774

    Hi All...

Frustrated here...I know my title isn't great but after installing the latest release of Alpha my app is broken. Below is the error I get on every Grid and UX that a user tries to submit it. Nothing has changed in the but the patch. Curious if anyone else is seeing the same issue or has even seen this before. In the last 5 builds I have had to "majors" that have broken my app.

    Thanks
    Joe

Same here. In my case 7715 is stable for my needs. I usually wait several weeks, if not more, AFTER the last update before checking it out. Inevitably Alpha will release a "stable" release but then discover a bug a day or so later. Release another "stable" patch and maybe there is another bug. If you look through the update history there are always a few more updates to the updates...lol. I know I can send in bug reports, and I do now and then, but I've grown tired of playing frogger with Alpha. I'll just let the official updates marinate a good long while before checking them out.

Thank you. I assume to roll back I have uninstall both the desktop and server, the install that version and re-publish.

I'm still stuck back at 7295 - all releases after were causing too many problems for me to contend with at this time. Some were easy to fix others with a simple republish, others were going to make me "find" the problem. I just don't have time but will make time soon.

I don't have any problem with the latest release.
I am like Charles still on 7295
But till now my tests are working on the latest release, if I don't run in some problem I will move to it on the weekend.

Today's "stable" release 7776 breaks my application. I get this opening a UX component. Broken since build 7582 for me.

I got that same message two updates ago. It's the reason I'm still on 7715. I probably could send in a test case but then I need to spend a lot of time scrubbing data from the tables and making sure the test case actually fails like I see in my component. I don't have this time. So I haven't sent in a test case.

I am also still on 7715 from June 4th. 4 more releases since then. Seems that every time I upgrade I have to spend more and more time fixing things.

I know exactly what you mean. For me to spend hours trying to create a test case that 'mimics' my actual application is no longer something I'm interested in doing anymore. This happens after nearly every release .. enough is enough.
