Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Your missing the path alias needed when using DBF tables.

    Code:
    dim tw as p
    tw = table.open("[PathAlias.ADB_Path]\work-ord")

I have a feeling the append operation will not work for what you're trying to do (This became apparent when you explained about the error).
I can help you with your goals, but without having seen the append operation, odds are high it will not work for what you want to do.
Pictures of the UX you're working on and how you want it to work will help get you on track.
A screen sharing session using teamviewer or something similar would be even better.

    SIr madtowng ,

Thanks again for the reply and your help,
my operation is standard from the desktop side, almost all the operations I do here still have the same "not open table" error

I also tried to create a simple update operation but the error is still the same

script_play that you advise in WORKING PREVIEW worked, but when opening in GOOGLE CHROME there is an error NOT OPEN TABLE

    Sir drgarytraub

thank you very much for your advise, but there is an error that says that cannot find the file or table but checking there is the table in the control panel and that I can open it, I followed all your instructions,

I really want to be able to execute the operations I do on the desktop side on the web/mobile app side to speed up my transfer to the web/mobile environment

In case I no longer use desktop operations, what is the equivalent of a web/mobile app that is the same as the append/update operations (or any)?

I hope you can help me too

Most of us use SQL tables instead of DBF on the web, but I remember using operations frequently when I used DBF tables for my web app. The steps involved something like:

If you go to the Control Panel, go to the Operations tab, click on your operation and then click Design.

Now look along the top and you will see Xb which stands for Xbasic. Click on that Xb button to display the Xbasic code of the operation. Copy that to an a5w page and you will almost be there. Run this code on your a5w page and you will get some error messages that will help you revise the code to get it to work.

ok. Now that we took the long way to get here, please share the append operation you have.
It will also be helpful if you describe what you're actually trying to do.

thank you very much for your replies

I'm sorry if you're confused, I just want to know if I can and how to run a desktop operation on the side of the mobile/web app like append using UX

because I have a plan to move my desktop applications to the web/mobile app so I just thought of this question

oooohhhh, so this is a desktop item. I've never developed a desktop app so that's probably why I'm clueless ...lol.

    Thanks!
