Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Help building a Stripe component

    Hi,
    Can someone help me with building a Stripe component?

    I realize we have that available as 'genie' now. While that function works, it will not meet the needs of the project I am working on. In the first place it is written based on an older version of the Stripe interface and Stripe is nagging that we upgrade to the newer version. Second, it does not allow for more than one account. Third it does not permit the use of Apple Pay or Google Pay.

    Apple Pay and Google pay need to be added to our project. I wrote to Alpha Software a couple of times to ask for an updated version of the Stripe interface and basically was told that it is all Javascript and I should write my own. That is fine, but I don't know Javascript. I know how to write the 'alert' command but that is about all. Add to that, the steps needed to add the stripe node.js that required for the new version is something I don't understand.

    So we need help building a Stripe component that will take advantage of their latest version and have the 'keys' required for its functionality to be pulled from a sql table rather than being hard coded. In our project different areas in the country have their own checking account, therefore we need to have a component that will pull their 'keys' so the charges will go to their respective accounts.

    Can someone help me with this?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Yes it's vary rare for a genie in AA to be updated - once it's done it's done - it was explained to me these are examples of how to at the time and if you want it updated then you need to create your own - now that doesn't bother me, but if I were starting out in AA with the latest mantra 'No-code, low-code' ringing in my ears and the fact the product is a subscription product, it would be reasonable to think genie controls would be in-line with current technology or removed.

    I used Stripe years ago, i'll take a look again and see what I can do to help.

        That also begs another question. Not necessarily for you Pete, but if a genie is to show an example, then how does one unpack a Genie to see how it works? In other words how do I look at what it took to put the genie together? If I could do that, then I might be able to figure it out.

        Just a thought,

            p2._key = skey
            p2._amount = e._state.charge.amount ' this is how you set a state var in the client side then the value can be seen both client/server. {dialog.object}.stateInfo['charge.amount'] = '1250';
            p2._description = e._state.charge.description
            p2._currency = e._state.charge.currency

              Hi Mike

              My son worked on this a few months ago. He integrated stripe using node.
              He created a few components to create customers on stripe, save cards to the customer and to charge cards.
              If you would like to pay him to build it with you / for you, message me with your email address and I will put him in touch with you.
