I have an unbound dropdown control in a UX.
First, a value is selected in the dropdown.
Then another control is changed making the record dirty.
Then the record is submitted.
The text still appears in the dropdown control, but the control is empty.
What I am trying to do is use the dropdown to list several different reports for the user to select from.
Once the user selects a report, the report can be emailed or printed.
However, if the user wants to email the report, he/she must also fill in some other (bound) fields, such as To:, From:, Subject:. You get the idea.
So if report "ABC" is selected in the dropdown, then the user enters data in the other fields, the record must be saved before clicking a Send button.
After saving the record, the dropdown control displays "ABC", but in fact there is no value in the dropdown control.
Now, the value in the dropdown will persist when navigating from record to record.
And if the user makes a selection in the dropdown, and then navigates to another record, and repeats all the above steps, it works just the way I want it to work. It retains the value in the dropdown.
I have not been able to figure out what is causing this. I made a simple UX to test it.
