programatically change the repeat count property value for repeating section

If I have a ux with a repeating section and I set the repeat count property value of the repeating section in the ux to 3, and the child table has more rows than the repeat count property value, the repeating section shows all of the child rows related to the parent table.
If I use the {dialog.Object}._setRepeatingSectionRowCount() method and set it to 3 it only shows 3 repeating section rows regardless of how many records are in the child table.
What I am trying to accomplish is get rid of the empty repeating section rows when a transaction is closed and cannot be edited any longer. any ideas?

If I understand what you are trying to accomplish, since you can determine how many child records there are for a particular record, you can set the rows in the OnDialogInitialize event. You can "inject" the value of the number of child records into this code:
var rows = 7;

which is on line 44 of the help text from the default prototype.

Because this is a text file, you will have to do something like this:

vn_repeating_rows = sql_records_get("::name::conn","select count (*) from childTable where InvoiceNumber = "+myInvoiceNumber+"","","")

then, in the javascript to set the row count in the repeating section, you will have to put something like this:

js = "var rows = " + vn_repeating_rows+""
js = js + <<%txt%
var setFocusToFirst = true;
var nullOutExistingData = true;
var repeatingSectionId = 'CONTAINER_1';
{dialog.object}._setRepeatingSectionRowCount(repeatingSectionId,rows,setFocusToFirst,nullOutExistingData);
var _d = {};
.....
%txt%

On the UX, under Events on the left hand side, select Server-side. In the middle column, onDialogInitialize should be highlighted.

Thanks again, I wasn't thinking server side. That makes sense now. GetterDone before the ux is rendered.

I have cut through Versailles many times on my way from Frankfurt to Lexington. Neat town. I will have to come down and check it out sometime.
