Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Error: Alpha Anywhere Online Activation

ValidateCallerIdentity() failed because the time taken was too long. 2656.6295 milliseconds. @ 3/12/2022 3:19:13 AM

One of my clients is receiving the above error.

Their website stops loading dropdowns, and I've found the resolution is to reinstall Alpha Anywhere Application Server, and restart the servers..

Has anyone else come across this issue? It started in January, and went away after I removed and added back in the license to the Application Server. I thought it was just a glitch, but it started happening again today and required a reinstall of Alpha Anywhere.

I just checked the Event logs, this has been going on since January - every 4 days the error appears..

I checked the license is valid - with a future expiration date.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have had problems this year, where the server would stop working without notice. I run my server through always up, so a quick restart and all would be fine for a few hours, but it could happen several times a day.

Since installing 8074 a week ago, I have not had a problem and have just had an email from Lenny who thinks the latest nightly build will resolve all the issues.

      Thanks for your reply.

The site is run through AlwaysUp - but, it's an older release of Alpha - when he attempted to upgrade it previously, he ran into a number of issues that required fixing.

The restart of AlwaysUp instance does not help. it requires a full reinstall of Alpha. It's almost like something is either being corrupted or deleted from the Webroot.

He has no anti-virus application that might be sending files to a quarantine folder - other than that, I didn't know what else to check for.

I haven't had this happen before this January, so not sure if there's another issue happening...

Besides, since I'm on an earlier version, I know the first answer will be to upgrade to the latest version.

I can't do this without a lot of testing and planning..

I noticed the event log entries (Source: Alpha Anywhere Online Activation) as follows:
Exception retrieving the latest build number from the server.: The remote server returned an error: (503) Server Unavailable.
            No access to activation server
Error loading assembly from C:\Program Files (x86)\a5V12 ApplicationServer\A5ACLib.dll. Filename is empty or file does not exist. Unknown error code 35021
            Unknown error code 35032

There are 23,000 of them in the last 24 hours.

Is anyone else having this issue? Sounds like there's an issue with the licensing server.

I was on a call with a client this morning who is on Alpha's community edition, yet, this morning they suddenly have the full IDE available to them. Even verified their license number on Alpha's subscription page. Valid until 2071 ...lol. Maybe Alpha's activation server is having problems. This was for version 8000 by the way.
