Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    List Conditional Row-Style Woes

    Hello, I am trying to use the Client-Side Conditional Row-Style to highlight a row when two fields are equal and not highlight it when the fields are not equal. I am on build 8000.

    This is my logical expression, in pure Javascript Syntax: data.PickedQtty == data.SendQtty
    This uses the basic style to set the background color to Gold.

    Once I get the two fields equal, the background color is set to Gold. But once the two fields are not equal, the background color doesn't change back to the blank white. I have tried including a separate condition where data.PickedQtty != data.SendQtty, but this makes it so the blue background that indicates selection isn't shown. I have seen other apps that only have one condition and when it isn't met, the background isn't whatever color it would be under the condition. As far as I could tell, there is nothing different with my list or conditions to theirs. I have tried using {dialog.object}.refreshClientSideComputations(); but that hasn't worked. Anyone have any ideas?

    Is that a typo with the 2 t's in Qtty? or is that intentional.

    It works for me, see attached.

      The two t's are intentional.

      Also, I should have specified this is in the List Properties: Conditional Row Style. I have buttons in the row that increment and decrement the PickedQtty through updateTableRow.

        That still seems to work okay. Here's a quick example with 2 buttons, one sets the lastname = firstname to test the conditional formatting. The other button sets lastname != firstname

          Thanks for replying so quickly with this.

          The problem I'm facing now is if I have two conditions, the condition for if data.PickedQtty != data.SendQtty is the baseline for each row. So, if I set it to have a background for white, there is no blue background for which row is selected. Is there a way for me to set the row background to be different if the row is selected from inside the Logical expression?

            Not quite sure I follow, but right now you have two mutually exclusive conditions.
            If you need another condition to test, then you would just need to modify the conditions, something like below for example:

            ((data.PickedQtty == data.SendQtty) and data.fieldname == 'value') GOLD
            ((data.PickedQtty == data.SendQtty) and data.fieldname != 'value') WHITE
            ((data.PickedQtty != data.SendQtty) and data.fieldname == 'value') BLUE
            ((data.PickedQtty != data.SendQtty) and data.fieldname != 'value') GREEN

            Conditional formatting can be tricky, the trick is to account for all conditions or you may see unexpected results.
            If you are asking, can you set the background from the conditions you have already, yes you can add a javascript funtion to the condition and then do that in the javascript function.

              I think what you are experiencing is that the conditional values are over-riding the default css which is the case when you use any default alpha style (maybe all of them) so you would want to specifically apply the style you want in the list options for "selected" explicitly rather than leaving it blank as the default - you can actually specify it in the list options to force the default

                I had the same problem but wasn't able to do anything with colors. What will work is bold by using <b>my_displayed_text</b>, but that of course only gives you two conditions.

                  Apologies for a bit of silence there. I do appreciate everyone taking the time to respond to my problem.

                  I have found that using listObj.refresh() after the condition isn't met sets the background color back to normal. For whatever reason, a listObj.setOrder() function was causing the issue. After the setOrder was done, the conditional row style would work to set the background color if the condition was met, but wouldn't un-do the background color if the condition wasn't met. From my understanding, after every updateTableRow the list is supposed to be refreshed, but this wasn't refreshing all the time and now I am forcing it to refresh.

                    interesting find, it might actually be a bug worth reporting if you can send in a working example...
