Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Email Report - Sent To Problem

    Hello

    I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue. I have created a grid that has row expander with child grid.

    image001.png

    I have a button on the child grid to view report, and also a button to send report in email. I created this following the video to send reports by email from a UX.

    Everything work fine. Except. The Send to email address is hard coded into the xbasic. e.g. ms.send_to = "[email protected]"

    I am trying to get the email "SEND To" to be computed from the grid row. Field called "EMAILADDRESS" I have tried and tried different ways to do this but cant seem to get it to work.

    his is what i have, but come up with an error.

    ms.send_to = e.dataSubmitted.EmailAddress

    The EMAILADRRESS is the field on the grid I want to use in the send to for email.

    Any suggestions on how to get the EMAILADRRESS field to be used??

    thanks.

    e.dataSubmitted is for Dialog boxes.

    Use e._currentRowDataNew.EmailAddress instead

      Hello Jay,

      Thank for your reply, I used the

      s.send_to = e._currentRowDataNew.EmailAddress

      I get the following error.

      Any suggestions?

        Re: Email Report - Sent To Problem

        run the debug(1) in the Xbasic in the working or live preview and look at the e object in the watch window.
        Expand the e object and see what you can find.

          Ricky, you might want to consider signing up for Twin Peaks Research - Tips, Tricks, & Techniques for Alpha Anywhere!
          I did and Jay is an instructor there - I can say that I learned alot from the videos and it is money well spent. Jay probably did not want to mention it but I sure am willing to!
          The website is at
          http://twinpeaksresearchllc.com/
          it has helped me tremendously and NO they do not pay me to say it! I think it is good training for the money and I can go back to it anytime I want and review it over and over for when I get that brain clog.

          And Jay if your following this thread PLEASE create a more in depth video than Alpha going over IN DEPTH a stripe payment integration! They always seem to give you the basics and leave it up to you to work in the details. Like I want to be able to use subscriptions and update another table when the charge goes through to indicate success and maybe even update/ edit a security group on a successful transaction AND oh what about cancelling a subscription - that would need to change a users permissions...

          Anyways, ricky if you can afford to spend the money on a subscription I would recommend doing it. There is a good bit of video training on email.

            the first thing to check is the ajax callback function definition. there, the last row, is compute current row data, that needs to be checked.
            http://screencast.com/t/rW3R3NsHyGPP
            s.send_to = e._currentRowDataNew.EmailAddress
            will show up properly after that.

            while in your child grid if you run the debug it will show the name, then you will be good to go.
            if still having problem post back.

              Thanks for your kind words. I appreciate them. I will take the Stripe Payment integration "under advisement".

                  I am having the same problem, when I put in the debug and look at the e.currentrowdatanew I just get two curly brackets {}
                  I would think it would list the fields in the grid yeah?
                  even currentdataold has the two curly brackets {}

                  so in effect I am getting the same error as the original post here. can anyone help me get this sorted out?

                  many mucho thanks!

                    You are putting in e._currentRowDataNew ?
                    Don't forget the underscore.

                      I have tried to Use Debug(1), but I'm not getting any useful data showing, (Its my fault as I don’t understand yet) so unfortunately still stuck.

                      But I have been able to use a session variable in the to: section so I can send emails to a session.Variable, So trying to work out when I change field type it sets the session variable and ultimately the person the email goes to?

                      Hope this makes sense.

                          Yes, I have done what was in Post 6 and still got an error. Sorry my skills in debug are limited, but it would not recognise e._currentRowDataNew

                            I believe I will have this worked out for both of us by tonight.
                            I found a video that Selwyn made for a guy that will help you and me both work through this and Ghandi was on track as well as Jay I just don't think we put it all together. I am on my way home, and will post the helpful video in a few. It seems the other guy was stuck and for the same reason...

                              Here is the video and I am certain the missing link for you and I as I doubt neither of us were doing the ajax callback to set the session var and the respective currentrowdatanew as in my case that was missing in debug

                              read the thread and watch the video first. I will be willing to bet a light goes off in your head...lol
