Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Are you testing per field or per section?

    Are you working in the UX?

    Do you have a style in mind?

      Am using UX. Any style whether percentage completion or progress bar. I have more than 5 Ux components. It should work when a user successfully submit a form that is based on Ux the bar should change as the page load to another page.

          Ok. Integrate session variable to filter users base on login. And let it be responsive to devices.
          Thank you very much

              Re: Progress bar implementation

              I have accomplished a progress bar using conditional images that I built myself. If you are using separate UX components for every stage, the images can be static (one image per UX) and use the corresponding image for what stage/UX the user is in. I usually build my images using Visio and converting them to jpegs, but any drawing program could work.

              I have also done something similar with conditional formatting (client-side) on buttons in a button control container. For example, if there were 5 panes/stages, there would be 5 buttons. If the user was in stage 3, the conditional style for the third button would have a highlighted background color and the other 4 would not. In the below image, the style for all of the buttons <= the current stage have a conditional style.

              buttonProgress.png

              I found the nice thing about doing it with buttons is that they also serve as a way to navigate back or forward to other stages in the process.

              There are no doubt more programmatic solutions out there. Good luck.

                  Re: Progress bar implementation

                  Probably the easiest way is with the progress bar.

                  There are a number of styling problems but if you are happy to use default styling it is simple

                  <div>
                  <h5>Progress</h5>
                  <progress max="100" value="80"></progress>
                  </div>

                      For the progress attribute, there is a helpful W3school page: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_progress_max.asp

                        Am using Tabbed UI. Can't it be implemented in Tabbed UI?

                            Re: Progress bar implementation

                            Hi

                            You have decide what event is going to update it. I guess it is the saving of a UX.

                            Other problems are a student may want to complete the task in more than one step.

                            Are you saving the progress in a table?

                            Do you want to save it in Local Storage easier but it knows nothing about progress on other machines.

                            The actual process of updating the progress is easy.

                            <div>
                            <h5>Progress</h5>
                            <progress max="100" value="20"></progress>
                            </div>

                            <div>
                            <h5>Progress</h5>
                            <progress max="100" value="40"></progress>
                            </div>

                            This increases progress from 20% to 40%

                            Michael

                              Re: Progress bar implementation

                              see client-side events of the ux.
                              onTimer
                              onInitializeComplete

                              This implements the progress bar to 'progress' based on timer event. The code you will need in your instance will be what sits in onTimer event for the relevant event you have to 'progress' it.
