Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    How Do You Insert An Image Into A5W Page?

    Just trying to insert an image that is in my project image file into a very simple a5w page but the image is not displaying.

    The page has this between <body> tags:
    <a href=”#”><img src=”Not Authorized.jpg”></a>

    What am I missing?

      I'm doing this to display a single image/pdf document in an A5W page.
      From a button in a UX, the following is called from the OnClick event.
      {DocFilename} is the path of the document I want to view stored in a text box on the UX.

      image.png

      This is in the A5W page:

      Code:
      <!DOCTYPE html>
      <%a5
      'THIS IS THE ONLY CODE THAT SHOULD EXIST IN THIS FILE
      'ANY OTHER CODE WILL CORRUPT THE STREAM
      'SET HEADERS, PRINT BINARY DATA, END (end is a keyword to kill the script)
      'Hard to explain, but Sometimes if you use a response.sendfile() or
      'other methods of sending content to the browser or finishing a request
      'the response is intended to end
      'Sometimes it does not and your code will fall through to the code below
      'In this particular case, end is unnecessary, but i always use it when using Response.
      'SendFile or after sending redirections, working with response headers 'etc.
      'the end is to stop fallthrough, I can explain more if needed,
      'but just know that it is good practice in certain scenarios (this being one)
      'mime_type application/pdf, image/jpeg, image/png, image/gif for different file types

      'un-comment the next line for testing, make sure it's a valid file name
      'Doc = "C:\Users\Ron\Desktop\Salvage N170JS.pdf"
      Doc_Type = remspecial(right(rtrim(Doc),4))

      select
          case Doc_Type = "pdf"
              vtype = "application/pdf"
          case Doc_Type = "png"
              vtype = "image/png"
          case Doc_Type = "jpeg"
              vtype = "image/jpeg"
          case Doc_Type = "gif"
              vtype = "image/gif"
          case else
              end
      end select

      Response.mime_type = vtype
      ?file.to_blob(Doc)
      end
      %>

        Yeah, I have been playing around with that without any luck Charles. The image is on the IIS server, but I might move it to a file server instead and try to link to it that way and see what happens.

        Boy, sometimes what you think should be the simplest of things, I tell ya

          it's probably just as easy as you think it should be unless the folder or the file has security issues imposed by the server. have you published it and used dev tools to see whats going on?

            I played around with this for the better part of 2 days and was not able to get it working using Ron's method either.

            The farthest I was able to get was by putting the image on a file server and using an <img> tag defined as file://///servername/share/Alpha5/image.jpg
            This would work for me in Live Preview but not when published to the server.

            I ended up putting the image in a panel card on a UX. Then I added the UX to an a5w page using "Insert component into an .A5W page"
            Oh well, at least it works, though it seems overkill for a page with just one image on it, LOL.

                I tried in multiple locations, on the IIS server, on a separate file server, in my project files.
                Right now, as it is working, it is in the project files and then added to a UX component.

                  Back to KISS (don't be offended).
                  Try the simple approach.

                  Code:
                  <!DOCTYPE html>
                  <html>
                      <head>
                          <title></title>
                      </head>
                      <body>

                  <img src="Not Authorized.jpg” style="width:px;height:px">
                      </body>
                  </html>

                    Is your image name "NotAuthroized.jpg" or "Not_Authorized.jpg". Also, is it stored in the same location as your .a5w page or nested in a subfolder?
