Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Header alignment issues in list (using the "Tabbed UI Replacement" video method), with dynamic panels

    Following the "Alpha Anywhere Webcast 2020 Apr 15 - Tabbed UI Replacement " video, I have successfully designed a UX that works and is looking good, except that my list headers are not aligned properly. When I preview the list, everything is aligned as it should be. But, when previewed within the new UX "tabbed replacement" in a dynamic panel, the headers are all moved over to the right about 2 inches, as shown below.

    ID First Name Last Name
    1001 John Doe Billings MT 222 435-8876
    1002 Tim Smith Denver CO 343 989-9835

    I built a completely new and simple list and used it in inside the dynamic panel. It had the same issue with the list header.
    Any thoughts?

    Thanks
    Tony

    my first guess is this is a style issue, I would start with dev tools and find that particular issue to see where it needs to be edited to fix it.

      You are very likely sharing a class in your list header that is being used in your dynamic panel header, and that dynamic panel header probably has some styling you applied which is affecting both. As Charles said, Chrome's dev tools will be the best way to troubleshoot it.

        Thanks for the replies. I will take a look at possible style conflicts.

          I finally was able to get back to this.
          I did use google dev tools and the attached picture and the below copy of the html shows the problem.

          element.style {
          1. white-space: nowrap;
          2. width: 1194px;

          }

          Style.png

          When I change the 1194px to 10px, the problem is fixed.

          The component style is "GrTan" for the main ux and the embedded ux.
          I have tried different ones with the same outcome.

          Can you guys instruct me where to fix or change this in Alpha?

          Thanks

            I would try something like margin-left: 0px or margin-left: auto somewhere in here... Open the style in notepad and make some changes see what happens! All you can be is wrong, lol
            You can always make a backup of the file if you screw it up and give up!

              Thanks for your suggestion.
              I did try
              margin-left: 0px;
              margin-left: auto;
              margin-left: 1px;
              All had the same results.

              Each ux works as it should when opened alone.
              The issue only shows up when opening the second ux (with a list) and trying to display it inside of a dynamic panel.
              Thanks

                I started over with both UX's and switched to Alpha Green style ...... works perfect. So, I may have broke something along the way or the old GrTan style was causing an issue.
                Either way, back up and running and thanks for replies!!

                  interesting, thanks for sharing back. Definitely a style issue but difficult to find where the issue is!

                    Hi Tony,

                    I was following this one and curious how this is going. I am on the edge of the same fork in the road. Curious how the replacement for the tabbed UI turned out and if you are happy with it? Care to share the image of it?
                    I saw in the youtube video on this Dion references a future ability to re-open the same tabs, but I read through release notes from there forward and was not able to find it. Although I did not dig much.
                    Did you find this was something you had a need to do (open a ux in multiple tabs)?

                    Thanks

                    Wayne

                      To open several instances of the same UX in separate tabs you need to set a different dynamic title for each new tab.

                      When setting up the new UX to open use javascript:myFunction (the myFunction can be anything and the javascript bit has to be lower case from memory) in the Dynamic Panel Title property then define a javascript function with the same name to assign a unique name and return it. dynamic panels.png
