Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Hi Pete. I'm impressed and would like to learn how this is all done as I've not used viewboxes yet.

Thanks - I'm putting several packages together for beginners, advanced and pro as I know many using AA have different needs and capacity, one thing for certain all will fully understand not only how to build this application - but will get the application and the video training of my knowledge on my new HYBRID method. I'm glad you are impressed and replied all visitors watched the video today, your are the first to comment. I appreciate that.

Fantastic stuff. Unbelievable how lightweight that is for how much is going on. Count me in as well on learning more on the viewbox. When you clicked through the center controls, I noted some text boxes and there was no save button. Am I to understand these just dynamically make an sql call on completion of an edit?

Hi - thanks for the question - have you ever seen a save button on Netflix or Apple, or Google - if you make a passive (non-critical) change then that's it - just do it. - But like in my dropdown above - it has the potential to be disruptive - so it's polite to ask. Also not the messages are in every day language - that's because at some point soon Siri or Alexa or other others will want to say the words. So actions like possessive e.g. Margaret currently own a right (is possessive) to the 'Sales Coordinator Role so we announce her with 's in her name.

I had a question about how buy the screen looks - this is the answer.
Thanks, yes, it's busy because I want to demonstrate every key method for developers in the one build - they are easier to turn off than re-create - they are all managed on the way in using the onItializeComplete the headings icons etc. are all dynamic based in the state or session values so developers can call them whatever on the client use case.

Another question: But then why use Alpha at all? It sounds like it would all work using javascript, html and css?

Well yeah - but the connections to the database, the permissions (security) and the ease of the context backend functions, RESTAPI connections etc. All make AA worth while, that's why my method is called HYBRID: a thing made by combining two different elements.

Pete, Don't mean to be rude, but I have to ask. You have been teasing us with this stuff for several years and it looks wonderful, but then it seems each time that you have decided to add or improve more parts. Are you really going to release some of this this time? I have been putting off learning viewboxes because I want to learn them done right and your way appears to be the right way.

Great demonstration Pete! Very interested in learning more. You have helped me with some things - I need to update you on what I have done since. Thanks for sharing.

There are some really great creative Alpha developers and apps out there but truly this is some of the best stuff I've seen. Performance, security, size, and great graphics. Truly impressive stuff.
I would really, really like to see more of how this is all done.

I know viewboxes are the way to go for lightweight, fast apps. But even after playing around with them somewhat, I don't find them easy to use. Maybe because you need to get more into the hands on programming level.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I love positivity, it drives me, along with innovation - I had comment, one developer didn't realize this is the AA security system so I just want to confirm - yes it is but on steroids' :) I'll demo that side tomorrow and Pat re 'You have been teasing us with this stuff for several years and it looks wonderful, but then it seems each time that you have decided to add or improve more parts' - life can get in the way of things and after various medical procedures and COVID lock-downs and the like, well you know. Also whenever I show things, they more than enough end-up being added to AA (well almost), and that Stifel's creativity and opportunity for people like me. - I think I'm goin out on a limb with this. We will see. I know one thing once developers see what I have learned, what I have created with my Hybrid method and how I'm going to teach it, with fully functional apps, like the security console. You will use 1% of what AA makes available and 60%-80% less overheard in your code, fast and lite application and fully understand every sing line of your function without the use of AA Javascript functions that end up being embedded in the construct of the with along with GUIDS and other xbasic just to drive it. In the past year I have been removing more and more stuff that after pondering it for a year from my own process, - I'm looking forward to showing you all and getting people on-board. AA is the ideal platform for why I'm doing as I explained to another developer - the connections to the database, the permissions (security) and the ease of the context backend functions, RESTAPI connections etc. all make AA worth while, that's why my method is called HYBRID: a thing made by combining two different elements.
