Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Viewbox and JSON Form

    Hi everyone,

I have a viewbox connected to a JSON Form for the purpose of updating the viewbox data. This is working far better than
    previous attempts.

With that said, AA displays the UX quite differently for Working Preview vs Live Preview.

Is there a way to get the viewbox to display like the Live Preview shown below, and the JSON Form to display like the Working Preview shown below.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Wish I could help. I have viewboxes as my primary list textboxes as the detailed view, and they look the same in Live Preview and Working Preview. I've played around with JSON Form with a List and don't see a difference between Live Preview and Working Preview. My next step was to connect the Viewbox to a JSON Form but have not started. Don't think I know how to start with it. I'll see if I can do that and let you know.

What happens if you publish this Gregg?
Just as a trial outside of theAlpha box?
In my Web toolkit, I don't have the option of live or working preview. It gets published locally and I can view the results.
Works for Web and Mobile. But then, different toolkits.

I haven't pushed that far yet.
With all the chaos created by updates this year, I've resisted the urge to blindly do the updates for fear
the extra work the updates might cause.

Don't you have a sandbox to ry stuff in?

Not quite what I meant Gregg.
My toolkit is different, as you know.
When an app is compiled, it can be run locally - just as it appears on the final server.
I do not have live and working preview, just the one version that will be used in the real world. Warts and all.
I also create a temp url just to be sure, before final publish.

You actually gave me an idea. Let me kick a few tires.

I think the live preview is just missing the (style) css file or something of the sort. when you run it in live preview launch a browser and go into dev tools and see whats missing or not loading correctly then go into your live preview folder and add it manually if need be.

                    Hi Charles,

                    I appreciate the response.
I cheated to see what it looks like real world (the result is in the image below).
I'm working my way through some updates that I will hopefully have finished before Friday's IADN webinar.

ok so, 3 different views here right? You have in AA: "working preview", "live preview" , and then the last one on your server as its served on the web. I think this just confirms that both working and served live to web have the proper styling yet "live preview" does not. Again this means that the style is not in the live preview folder to be referenced properly. Unless I am wrong which happens alot, lol - this is the problem you originally asked about. So as I said use live preview, launch the preview in a browser and use dev tools to see what styles may be missing.
I think the most important thing to note here is this really isn't a big deal if its being published correctly and you can still use working preview to work out developmental concerns.
hopefully, I will make it to this weeks IADN as they can often be helpful.

I haven't been active with IADN for about a year as it was a bit confusing what I am paying for over there. I will say that since last year the website has gotten considerably better! The guy must be too humble, because I had some gripes about it and emailed him and called him without response. I logged in today and see he has addressed my concerns and I will leave it at that. Looks like he has done a bunch of work to the site over the past year - looks great!

Being needed is the biggest reason improvements and implementation are delayed.
Yesterday one of my users said he needed to see specific information when clicking on a list row (The only live list I have).
I looked and determined the response time to load the grid with the new information was taking way too long.
I redid things to get the list to pull up a viewbox with the desired information. It now takes one or 2 seconds whereas the
previous method seemed to take a minute or longer.

As for this project with the JSON Form, I am certain things will improve once I actually apply css.
I am hoping to be present in tomorrow's webinar
