Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Check If you qualify to IIS Plugin

Short time ago I got email from Alpha (Subscriber Update‏ ) with a link to check Alpha Anywhere IIS plugin and if I qualify to get free IIS plugin. Qualify to get IIS plugin. Is this a joke? Do a really have to qualify. The link was in email Subscriber Update so I suppose they know I am a subscriber. I wonder what else is there to qualify to get IIS plugin. Maybe age, gender or nationality. Who knows?

Well at least you got a subscriber update. They don't even know that I'm a subscriber!

They also think that my subscription ends soon according to their marketing emails. Well, subscription is valid still 7 months. They should invest to Salesforce and forgot homemade databases.

I have noticed Alpha becoming less personal also. I've been with alpha since a4v2. Does the "Cobbler" know who is children are?

I'm sure a call or email to Alpha would clear things up. If there's something in beta you usually only need ask and it's yours to try.

You guys are so testy today... c'mon... it's Friday. Yikes.

Re: Check If you qualify to IIS Plugin

So just make a call to Alphasoftware and qualify yourself.

Because subscription is not enough to get IIS plugin I suppose they have predefined questions made. Something like this:

Hello Ken. you have valid subscription but that does not qualify you.
We have few questions to ask from you to be sure you qualify.
                    Are you ready?

Q: Ken, first, what foods do you eat with your fingers?
                    A: Hmm sometimes .....

Q: Okey Ken then do you sing in the shower?
                    A: Well I must....

Q: Ken be now honest, how old you were when you first did notice you have an Alphasoftware product and did you tell this to your parents and friends?
                    A: Ups let me....

Q: Ken, do you take selfies in the cemetery?
                    A: Ou...

Q: And Ken last question. This is directly from top level. Do you have a dog?
                    ......

I was kinda wondering the same thing myself - I pay every month for a subscription. It's an automatic draft right out of my account and I am happy to pay it but the other day when I cranked up Alpha I got a message saying my subscription is running out...
                              SO to say
"The cobbler's children have no shoes..."

is pretty accurate but like Kates put it - ah, its just a phone call don't worry - I agree. I see so many good things coming out of Alphas dev team right now - I can over look the other stuff. When it comes right down to it - they got a great product and I am willing to pay for it. Send me an invoice, I'm gonna make Mexico pay for it anyway, lol.
