Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Web Security "Ignore return to page after login" not working!...

    Hi all

I am using a custom UX Login Component with the Web Security active

I confugured a default afterloginpage and I did uncheck the Ignore return to page after login checkbox in the "login options" tab of the web security genie

When accessing any of the required login page I would like the application to redirect to the target page after completing the login dialog
When I uncheck the Ignore return to page after login I see the target page in the URL exemple [http://localhost:8080/Login.a5w?np=%2fSecurePage%2ea5w]
But after a successful login there is no redirection and if I checked Ignore return to page after login , it does not go to AfterloginPage.a3w

If I add a [e.url = "AfterLoginPage.a5w"] statement in the server-side events OnLogin of the custom login component it never goes to the target securepage.a5w it always goes to the afterloginpage.a5w

    What am I missing?
I did try to get the request.variables.np value in the the server-side events OnLogin of the custom login component but it is empty!...

    ---------------------------

    Detailed configuration

I have 5 web pages here with their security respectively:

    AfterLoginPage.a5w (security- requires login)
    InsufficientPermission.a5w (security- always allowed)
    Login.a5w (security- always allowed)
    PublicPage.a5w (security- always allowed)
    SecurePageB.a5w (security- requires login)

In my Web Security Configuration, Login Redirect Option is set to "Same page for all logins" and Redirect Page After Login is set to "AfterLoginPage.a5w".

When I try to fetch the securepage via a link in the Public page I get the login page then after a successful login there is no redirection taking place.

Since you have the login redirect option set to "same page for all logins" I believe that overrides everything else.

If you want to direct the traffic after login, then turn that off.

You may have to restart your server to see that take affect after uploading the changes.

I did try the two other choice for the login redirect option: "Current page" and "Page assign by user profile" restarting the server between each change; still same result. After a succesfull login it does not redirect to the AfterLoginPage.a5w if the checkbox "ignore return to page after login" is checked and it does not redirect to the target securepage.a5w if the "ignore return to page after login" is not checked. No matter This checkbox sate after the the succesfull Login the user stayin the Login page and the logout button appears but no redirection!

Re: Web Security "Ignore return to page after login" not working!...

First of all, let me make clear what "ignore return to page after login" means.

If the user is not logged in and trying to go to a particular page that is secure, the site will take them to a login page. If "ignore" is not checked, then the system will remember what page they were trying to go to and take them there. What can also happen is the user is away from the site for a bit, get's timed out and maybe hits refresh. Then they can be returned to the page after a successful login if this option is set.

To help more, I'd need to see how your login page is setup.

If there is "no redirection" after login - where is the site taking you? It's not just sitting on the login page, is it?

The behavior you describe is exactly the one I want and the one I understood from reading instructions. Yes, after Login, it sit on the Login page with no redirection in both case when "ignore ..." is check (expected to go to the afterloginpage) or uncheck (expected to go to the target secure page). After a successful Login the only thing that happened in the login page is the Logout button that become visible. My login page contains only the UXComponent Template "SecurityFramework-LoginComponent" with no added or change of code; and it is set to "Always allowed".

          Thanks for your help.

Hi Larry, found my problem, I was using a UX Component with Integrated Login instead of an actual Login Component. It work has expected now. It is sad that UX Componnet with Integrated Login does not allow this behavior...
