Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    MySQL table files

I know this may not be the right place to ask this questions but is it possible to move tables by going to the physical file location and copying the *.ibd and *.frm files? I did a web search and from what I found, this is possible but they also mention an "ibdata" file which I cant seem to find on my "C:" directory.

Long story short, one of my tables got completely wiped out (all data deleted) and I want to restore from a file back up I have. I use Macrium Reflect to back up my C: to an external location and want to pull the files for the table.

    Thank you for your time.

I did that but when I try and open a table through navicat, it tells me "1812 - Tablespace is missing for table 'classes'.'classlist'."

I'm assuming you know how to perform a restore with the backup software you're using... that just doing a restore is not an issue for you.

Your issue is... what to do with the MySQL data that you do have backed up. How do you get it back into MySQL. This depends on how you've configured you database in MySQL. Here's a really good description of what goes on in MySQL... how things are put together... and why your restore resulted in an error. Within this post is a link to another post by the same person on restoring a table... it's not for the faint of heart.

One way to get this done would be to restore your backup... all of MySQL... to another machine running MySQL. Once there, dump your table. Then import your dump into your live system. It's a bit of a pain... but very straight forward.

During all the stuff you've already done, did you delete the table that lost it's data?

I tried to delete the table from navicat but it wont let me, just keeps saying that the tablespace doesnt exist, Ive tried removing it and recreating it but to no luck. I went to the physical file location and deleted the entire database folder, Im going to try your suggestion of restoring My Imaged file from the backup to another machine then dumping the database I want to recover. Then importing it into my live machine. Ill report my results.

Setting up a machine with my imaged backup from macrium did the trick, I was able to dump the sql file and import it back in. Thanks David.

              Re: MySQL table files

Good to hear that worked... that your target installation wasn't messed up. With sql servers you've got to play by their rules. You can move around an entire install... all databases... etc... but when working with individual tables you have to go through their process.

One more question, When I try to dump an entire database to a sql file using navicat it tells me error "1577 - Cannot proceed because system tables used by Event Scheduler were found damaged at server start", upon researching this error I find that I need to run the MySQLCheck. I found that this is an executable file in "C:\Program Files (x86)\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.7\bin\mysqlcheck" but is this the correct way to run it? It also says to restart the sql server in order for changes to take effect, but before I do it, I wanted to get your input on the matter.

                Thank you for your help.

Sorry Ivan... ya got me on this one... I don't know. If research shows a consensus of the steps to follow to fix this... then I'd back up my stuff and give it a shot.
