Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

How to display a matrix with a variable number of columns in a UX list control

    Hi,
This might sound a bit strange but the result of an SQL pivot select gives me a matrix with a variable number of rowsxcolumns - sometimes it could be a 2x2 matrix and other times a 20x20 matrix.
I would like to show the matrix in a list control/ grid or similar, but the fact that the number of columns is not a fixed number is a problem.
Anyone could point me in the right direction?
    Many thanks in advanced.
    Javier

Can you post a sample data set please.

I am in Cambodia and the internet is poor so it may take while to get back to you

Thank you Michael... below please find a sample of the data set.
The "Captura1" image shows the output of the select with 3 columns and the "Captura2" image shows 5 columns.

      Captura1.JPG
      Captura2.JPG

And this is a select to generate the data set with 6 columns in tSQL:

      CREATE TABLE #myTable
      ([col_1] decimal(18,4), [col_2] decimal(18,4), [col_3] decimal(18,4), [col_4] decimal(18,4), [col_5] decimal(18,4), [col_6] decimal(18,4));

      INSERT INTO #myTable
      ([col_1] , [col_2], [col_3] , [col_4] , [col_5] , [col_6] )
      VALUES
      (0.3,0.4,1,0.2,0.5,0.8),
      (0.2,0.7,0.9,0.4,0.8,0.12),
      (0.55,0.32,0.9,0.4,0.8,0.12),
      (0.87,0.71,0.49,0.4,0.8,0.12),
      (0.65,0.17,0.39,0.4,0.8,0.12),
      (0.28,0.4,0.91,0.12,0.54,1)
      go

Hi as I said I have slow ... No internet.

Here is where I would start.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0gPI8TrTdk

        Go to the list control

        use Custom data source

Click the button with "..." 3 small dots opposite xbasic function name there is a lot of info.

Building the JSON object is easy.

e.listDefinition - all of the List properties I guess you need to investigate this with a simple list you understand and then build it for your list.

I have not watched the video because of the speed here maybe all the help you need is there.

Thank you for your help Michael.
It will take me a few days to get familiar with this but if I finally manage to get it done I will get back to you.
          All the best,
          Javier
