Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Assign the div a class and use .innerhtml in javascript.

    I am having same type of issue but with containers. When I hide the container via toggle action in mobile app real estate of that container still occupies the space which I do not want.

    David, yes, that is what I'm after: get rid of the real estate that the DIV occupys when empty and move the controls below it up. Thanks. I'll try this out here soon.

    Gandhi, I'm sorry if I wasn't very clear in my description of what I needed.

    Re: How to hide a DIV ?

    Is this what you're talking about Mike? That the div tag is taking up space? Even though the div is empty, there are formatting elements occupying space. It's not fair... but there it is. So... move things around a bit.

    If so, in the Static text control style put this...

    Code:
    margin-top:-50px;
    And check on the property Control Container Prevent Float.

    In the button where you load the UX into the Div, add a Javascript action to the top of the action list... with this code...

    Code:
    var ele = {dialog.Object}.getPointer('STATICTEXT_1');
    ele.style.marginTop = "0px";
    So... when rendered, the Static control is sitting 50px higher than is normally would. This moves up the other controls and all looks good.

    Then, when you load the UX into the Div, move the control down again.

    When, you close the UX (if you do), then you'll need to move the div back up.

    If this isn't what you want then I'd suggest posting a really simple example containing 2 simple UX components. Otherwise, it's a bit of a guess what your layout is like.

    So happy we can attach again.

    That didn't solve the problem of the DIV taking up space.

    The DIV is below the Insurance button. Even when the DIV is empty it takes up space. I don't want that space there.

    Re: How to hide a DIV ?

    i think the div needs to be in a freeform region of the dialog/ux if available or in the a5w page that hosts the dialog not in the component level.

    but as far as i see the static text can be hidden. i am sure someone else will be able to help you.

    edit: may be you should consider place holder control, just a thought.

    Because I want it to be hidden at first. This DIV is a placeholder for components that will populate into it. I have a button that opens the component into this DIV. I can manually set the display to = '' before opening the component.
