List builder xbasic custom data source using http_get

Have and xbasic function which returns Json data from an http_get call, can see the data during debug and at output from function, but the list builder does not like my function and gives "too many parameters" error. and the function.
here is a debug session

FUNCTION getNews AS C ( )

Executed a5_JSON_extractValues() on the data being received and it did not find any errors:

Juan - I think the format of the function output is probably at issue.

Do this - create a new List object. Specify the Data Source Type as Custom. Then, in the properties, Custom / Xbasic Function name, click the builder. Put in a dummy Xbasic function name for now, then click both of the help hyperlinks "More info about the Xbasic function" and "Sample Xbasic function."

I think what you find here, comparing it to what you're producing, will help you with the answer.

my xbasic function returns straight Json data(per the images above you can see it is a very simple xbasic function), the list object custom data source is supposed to accept a Json data as basis for the list but it does not work, have tried every combination foreseeable to me just now created a new UX component, copied the function to it and tried it with and without incoming parameters, every combinations gave a different error.
