Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    HTML to xbasic

    I have the code below on an a5w page, that I need to convert into xbasic, preferably into a global variable that will activate in an embedded browser on a form.

    <form id=SagePayForm method=post name=SagePayFormaction="<%a5 ?session.__protected__sageURL%>">
    <inputvalue="<%a5 ?session.__protected__protocol%>" type=hidden name=VPSProtocol>
    <input value="<%a5 ?session.__protected__TxType%>" type=hidden name=TxType>
    <input value="<%a5 ?session.__protected__vendor%>" type=hidden name=Vendor>
    <input value="<%a5 ?Strcrypt%>" type=hidden name=Crypt> </form>

    Any advice / help
    Thanks
    Terry

    Re: HTML to xbasic

    It's not all clear what you are trying to do. HTML and xbasic are generally not converted from one to another but you can create HTML using xbasic. I do that on a regular basis to create tables from my data.

    In the example you show, it appears that there is no way to run that <form> because everything in it is marked "type=hidden". Are you just trying to pass those values to the next page?

    Also, apparently this is hard coded. If so, I can probably help. If you're somehow doing this in a web component, I have very little experience with web components. Desktop - yes; Hard coded web pages - yes; A5 Web components - no.

      Re: HTML to xbasic

      Here is an example of HTML code designed in xbasic that will fire when the A5W page is loaded. The evaluate_string() function will replace all of the value in curly brackets with the variable values. Not quite sure what you want, but if you store all of this in a session variable ("global variable") you can still fire it just as below using the last line with the "?":

      myform = <<%txt%
      <form action={ppurl} method="post" target="_blank">
      <input type="hidden" name="business" value="{ppemail}">
      <input type="hidden" name="notify_url" value="{vnotify}">
      <input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_cart">
      <input type="hidden" name="upload" value="1">
      <input type="hidden" name="return" value="{vreturn}">
      <input type="hidden" name="cancel_return" value="{vcreturn}">
      %txt%
      myform = evaluate_string(myform)
      ?myform

        Steve, this is from my page
        <%a5
        tbl=table.open("\\XXXXXXX\sagepayinfo.dbf",FILE_RO_SHARED)
        query.filter=("recno()=1")
        tbl.query_create()

        session.protocol=alltrim(tbl.protocol)

        session.sageURL=alltrim(tbl.sageurltest)
        session.mremail=alltrim(tbl.mremail)

        tbl.query_detach()
        tbl.close()
        session.Strcrypt = request.variables.crypt
        %>

        <%a5

        <form action="{session.sageURL}" method="post" target="_self">

        %txt%

        myform = evaluate_string(myform)

        ?myform

        Where have I gone wrong?

          Re: HTML to xbasic

          try with
          <<%txt%
          see if it works.

          ps: do you need to break the code into two?

            Hi Steve
            Your suggested code has been put into my page as in other post. Can you help on why this is not working.
            Thanks

              Terry, You have to define "not working". Do the variables get replaced when the A5W page is run? If so, does the form post information to the vendor? Etc.

                The page with the code above loads and then does nothing i.e. does not redirect to the other website.
                Thanks

                  Re: HTML to xbasic

                  That doesn't tell us anything. Is the form populating with the variables? E.g., if you look at Page Source do you see your form with all of the input fields and form action filled in with the proper information? If that is all working properly and the form does not do what it supposed to, then you need to review the vendor's help document to find out what you are doing wrong. If the form is at a public URL, you can shoot that to me or anyone via PM if you want someone else to review.

                      Re: HTML to xbasic

                      Ken is right, you need to start with a hard-coded form in your A5W page and make that work first, then go about populating your form with xbasic.

                        Steve
                        All the rest of my code works fine. I have just removed the (working code) set out in my initial post, but requiring a button click to redirect & replaced with your suggested code with the variables amended, expecting it to automatically redirect. The web page is for SagePay which works fine with the button.
                        Thanks
