Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: Uploading pdf. Pdf doesnt appear in the folder.

    Hey iRadiate,

    It seems like mine is the same as yours.

    I read in a past thread that the PDF will only upload in a submit button, do you think that means that it might not upload because I am using :

    var lObj = {dialog.object}.getControl('LIST');
    lObj.updateListFromUXControls();
    {dialog.object}.saveListEdits('LIST',{rows: 'allRows'});

    To save the record instead of something like {dialog.object}.submit() ? This is the only clue I still have to solve this mystery.

      Re: Uploading pdf. Pdf doesnt appear in the folder.

      To simplify things, why don't you at least temporarily add a button and only add the file upload javascript to it?
      Get that working then you might be able to find out what is preventing the upload as you are saving list edits.

        In the case of embedding the .pdf, should the 'File' field be bound to the 'File Upload/Download' control?

          This is a sample of my fields I am using during the .pdf upload.

          Please check if there is some kind of error in there? (*file, filetype, filedescription is used in embedding, and filepath when I save to folder)

            Re: Uploading pdf. Pdf doesnt appear in the folder.

            Oh you're uploading to a blob field. In that case, I think you need to bind your FILEUPLOAD_1(C) control to the blob field 'File' not a character field. I think right now you have it bound to character field 'Filepath' The upload control should then look like FILEUPLOAD_1(B)

            I'd still try the file upload on it's own button until you get it working.

              Re: Uploading pdf. Pdf doesnt appear in the folder.

              Still not working, I have tried everything. I have redone the buttons countless times, created so many tables to test with. It doesn't give any errors. It is just simply not working. I have tried linked and embedded.

              Linked : File path gets saved correctly. But no file in the designated folder.
              Embedded : Description and type fields filled in correctly, but no data getting saved to the BLOB field.

              I have no idea what else I can try. I have bought the liberty manuals book exactly for the purpose of getting the file uploads right and I followed it precisely and it is not working.

              I have searched the forums and in one other post the guy seemed to have the same problem but it was fixed when he used submit. I made a submit, but still the effects are the same ( link to other post : http://www.alphasoftware.com/alphafo...ht=file+upload )

              I must be getting something wrong but I have no idea what it could be and I have no idea where to get help to fix this.
