Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

take a look at this post:
    http://www.alphasoftware.com/alphafo...ap-Starter-Kit
(not free as bootstrap by the same name - this is alpha version, pay for use)

i do not have personal experience, but the word on the board is that framework is very good.

How can every thing in Alpha cost money to get after paying for the very expensive license i have to keep paying for any new thing that should be as an free update. This is not the best business model, we in African are trying to create awareness on Alpha but the high cost of the licenses is hindering our efforts. Plsease ALPHA SOFTWARE have to do some thing about this asap.

      Thanks

that is not from alpha, a private work by one of the users.
if you can play with css builder alpha has provided, then you don't have to pay.

As far as I know no one has done anything except Steve at http://www.alpha-bootstrap.com/.

We have been working on a similar project but totally Alpha based.

I am hoping we will have something to showcase at the conference in September.

There is a live demonstration on our Indonesian server. This server is for internal review but you can look at see the direction we are hoping to go. Our office has poor internet and frequent power cuts so this is in no way a production website. Currently only the default style has any functionality. http://smg.datadrivensystems.co.uk/r...ult_index.a5w#

The other styles are only displaying different styles of grids. you can also look at http://smg.datadrivensystems.co.uk/d...lpha/index.a5w this will be the container that holds all the work. This site is built in Alpha and uses Bootstrap for much of the layout. Again this is work in Progress and far from finished.

These 2 endeavours will have consumed close on a years worth of labour by the time they are complete. My intention is to earn a profit on this investment so I need to sell elements of the work to have any chance of recouping the investment.

You are obviously free to do what we have done. Discover the Alpha classes that affect your Alpha pages and visit modern websites to see how they achieve the great effects we see every day. The time required will be high and the skill required to build sass and sub themes will also be high.

If you look at the hours you waste styling a page a system like Steve's is good value for money. The most important thing is Steve has published his offer and he has satisfied customers.

            Michael

Thank you Michael for this information. But the truth is that we should be able to have free version for evaluation or maybe free themes to use as a test, then if one finds it fit-for purpose one can then pay for it.

            Thank ones again.

The problem is once you give someone CSS they have it for ever and there is no need to pay.

Here is a lot of great styling https://bootswatch.com/ but in you eyes it is not fit for purpose. It would take a long time to map the styles to Alpha's classes.

I guess if you want free you should consider an open source platform. Alpha has never suggested that it was free.

Re: styling Grid and ux components

What Gandhi says is true of V11 but in version 12 it is more complex. There are videos on Sub Themes that will help you to understand the relationship of CSS and JavaScript.

The builder Gandhi mentioned does not work for V12.

However you do it you will need to spend a while in Chrome or Firebug just to understand what is going on.
