Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Refreshing list control after clearing a search

    I am building a UX component with a single List Control (LIST1)

    The List Control is bound to a DBF table.
    The List Control has a Search Part and a Detail View.
    The Search Part contain 3 fields and a Search button and Clear Filter button.

    The Search button contains this code in the OnClick Event - {dialog.object}.getControl('LIST1').searchList({searchMode : 'auto'});
    The Clear button contains this code in the OnClick Event - {dialog.object}.getControl('LIST1').clearSearchList({searchMode : 'auto'})

    I am trying to refresh LIST1 list control to it's orginal (unfiltered) list once the Clear Filter button is selected but have not been able to find the correct code to accomplish this.
    Can someone point me in the right direction?

    var options = {
    keepFocusOnCurrentSelection: false,
    setFocusToValue: '',
    refreshDependentLists: false,
    onlyRefreshDependentLists: false
    };
    {dialog.object}.refreshListData('LIST1',options);
    Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

      Mind you - if you are using a bound list as you say, you should not need to do this.

        Re: Refreshing list control after clearing a search

        Actually I did try the {dialog.object}.refreshListData('LIST1') without the options and nothing happened. I also added the commond to a standalone button with no luck. I'll try the options and see if that make a difference.

          This code is in the Clear Filter but onClick event

          {dialog.object}.getControl('LIST1').clearSearchList({searchMode : 'auto'});
          var options = {
          keepFocusOnCurrentSelection: false,
          setFocusToValue: '',
          refreshDependentLists: false,
          onlyRefreshDependentLists: false
          };
          {dialog.object}.refreshListData('LIST1',options);

          The addition of the options did not work.
          Under the Data Binding menu I have set the specify tables to my DBF
          Under the Bind UX controls I have mapped all the fields.
          The List control (LIST1) has it's data source set to the same DBF table.
          So, not sure why this isn't working.
          I am able to update the date through the detail view
          but can't get the clear filter button to refresh the data?????

            Re: Refreshing list control after clearing a search

            Hello Richard,

            I just wondered if you ever solved this issue. I am having the same problem, the Clear Filter button does not clear the Filter and Arguments so the list does not reset. Below is a screen shot captured after the Clear Filter button has been pressed. Not sure what I am doing wrong. The Search Part was set up in List Properties and the Clear Filter button contains...

            {dialog.object}.getControl('LIST1').clearSearchList({searchMode : 'auto'});

            Thanks, Rod

                Re: Refreshing list control after clearing a search

                What version are you guys on that the problem is occurring? I am only asking because if it's an old version OR a pre-release it could've been a bug because that's a pretty simple thing for a list control. The other thing that could possibly be an issue is if your persisting list data to local storage. create a new list control in another UX and see if the issue persists, if after checking you cannot find the problem.

                  Actually I did. It seems my copy of AA had a problem. I upgraded to 4.3 and all is well.
