Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: Phone gap version

Phone gap had issues with their server in the wee hours this morning causing iOS builds to throw certificate errors (seems they have gotten this fixed), but they now a new issue is affecting the same subset of people where their apps are no longer working (mine included). Getting a lot of errors stating PhoneGap Plugins not loaded (though I made no changes to the app). Someone on the phone gap forums pointed out that moving to 6.3.0 got their app working again (in the past I've had many issues with anything other than 5.2.0, specifically with image capturing), but I figured I'd try 6.3.0 and see what happens. Problem is when I open the phone gap builder in alpha and click save so I can edit my config file, I edit it to have <preference name="phonegap-version" value="cli-6.3.0" /> right under the <author> section and click save, but when I submit to phone gap build (from that same screen that where you can get to the config file, so not going back to the phone gap builder within alpha) it reverts back to 5.2.0. Using the most current production build of alpha.

Yeah... not sure. That's an old build. Still... if you're not using plugins... no reason not to use 3.7.0.

    Have to ask...
with phonegap latest version choose from list which is 3.7.0
What does this mean? Are you only seeing 3.7.0 as the latest version from the PhoneGap Builder Build dropdown?

    Re: Phone gap version

Thanks David. I'm not using any plugins, this is the thing. I have a new system, new install alpha anywhere, new server and simple app with Ajax callback. Everything works fine with phonegap latest version choose from list which is 3.7.0. Anything above this version doesn't work.

    Re: Phone gap version

Without access to your PGB account and your project it's really tough to know what's going on. I see no issues with ajax callbacks using 3.7, 5.2, or 6.1 and I use all 3. I never use Hydration. It may be a plugin you're using that is causing the issue. All... well... most... well... many... plugins now run through NPM. Ensure you're plugins are set correctly.

    Re: Phone gap version

I stuck with my project now. I can't change phonegap version by hand. I can but to use Ajax callback I have to turn Hydration on what google console don't like. Everything works fine with phonegap ver. 3.7.0 and Hydra Off but for Google this phonegap version is not secure. I really need a help. Thanks

    Re: Phone gap version

thank you for quick answer David,

I made a simple test app with button with function on click.

    Function xbCallback as c (e as p)

    xbCallback = "alert('Ajax callback test');"

    end function

With version 3.7.0 message appears, but not with cli-5.1.0 or cli-6.1.0

I can see connection on the server, but nothing back.

    And one thing.

When I'm using version 3.7.0 and when app loading I have Phone gap icon on the screen, but when I'm using version above 3.7.0 at this same moment I have blank screen, no icon.

    Re: Phone gap version

Actually, the current version of "PhoneGap" is 6.1.0... they're always a bit behind in their own messages. I have a number of apps built with 5.2.0 and some built with 6.0.0. I have never seen an issue, Ajax Callback or otherwise, concerning Hydration and I never turn Hydration on.

The available selection of the PGB Build in a version of Alpha is just what was available at the time of the build. In Alpha Build 3583 the highest PGB Build is 6.0.0. Changing it by hand in the config.xml file causes no issues.

    Phone gap version

    Hi,

My new app is on Adobe phone gap now with message "We recommend upgrading to cli-5.2.0.". Because in my Alpha anywhere the latest version is 3.7.0 I change config.xml file by hand on version cli-5.2.0.

The funny think is, now any ajax callbacks doesn't work unless Hydration in ON. I don't really want to use Hydration in my app.

    Any ideas please.

    Many Thanks
Working...
