Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

SEO and live feed content in an Iframe

I have data in a list that I want to display on my website in an Iframe mainly to make it easier to embed the list and the a5w page.
Not sure if I am thinking this through so I am posting here for input and thoughts.

The idea is that many of my users solve wildlife control problems and get calls from people everyday say a squirrel in an attic in New Orleans. I want to run a live feed with just that content, species, date, nature of call city and state with a link to my users page related to the task or nature of the call.

This should create fresh content on the page and lots of it related to squirrel issues and a link to a relevant webpage, I see this as an SEO gold mine that could potentially lead searchers to people in their area who have lets say a squirrel problem.

Like I said I want to use an Iframe, what would you guys recommend in terms of displaying this info on my website?
the content so far as an example is located in my directory, under Louisiana via a link on that page called user activity.
    http://Www.nwcopro.com/la_animal_activity.html

For all I can tell this should be "Google" and search engine friendly but I certainly do not want to be counter productive and lose the SEO because of it being in an Iframe - what do you think and what would be a better strategy?

the idea being, let's get the word out. Our users deal with these critters and should be able to use this data entry as part of their marketing strategy to get the word out. It seems to me we are sitting on a wealth of good relevant information.

    Cheers~~

Re: SEO and live feed content in an Iframe

For those of you interested, the page DOES index with google and credits the page with the link to the details of the contents of the iframe.
    Very interesting...

The sixth result (as of today) shows what the page looks like in Googles search results.
    https://www.google.com/search?q=nwco....0.3Np97L8U-rI

Now, it may be that the iframe is credited because it is within the same domain - i dunno, but my question for all intents and purposes has been answered as YES
This is essentially google friendly SEO and may indeed help connect my users with netizens searching for a service.

The best part is - if this works as expected, the constant fresh content updated daily by my users should signal activity and therefore like a blog potentially show up in the search engines pretty frequently - ORGANICALLY.
Now that's a member benefit, and one unlike any other I have seen. I know of NO other industry that ports fresh content from business data entry directly to a website - do you?

For SEO this could be huge...most companies hire bloggers, etc to produce fresh content. Giving people the option to push the data straight from their daily data entry anyways seems like an added bonus - again unlike nothing I have ever seen in software.
Guess that's yet another benefit of using Alpha to build a web enabled business application.

Hi Charles! I don't get on here much and am just seeing this. You may be confusing two things. Google will of course "see" the content in your iFrame because it can follow and index any link. However, the content in the iFrame IS NOT providing an SEO benefit to the site that the iFrame is embedded in. I would recommend that you use an SEO analysis tool to help you determine what the web crawler will see as it relates to your SEO of the parent site. You can get free SEO tools on thehoth.com.
