Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Hide PanelHeader

    I have 2 UX components. UX_1 and UX_2.

UX_1 has a panel navigator and a number of panel cards. The Navigator type is set to Programmatic. Each panel card has a panelHeader with a button to navigate either to the previous panel or to the menu panel.

UX_2 is structured the same as UX_1 but only has 2 panels. Panel 2 has a panel header to return to UX_2 panel 1.

UX_2 is an Embedded Object of UX_1. UX_2 has the panel header inherited from UX_1. This is OK.

My issue is that UX_2 panel 2 has 2 panel headers. The panel header inherited from UX_1 and it's own panel header needed to return to UX_2 panel 1.

Is there some way on not showing the inherited panel header on UX_2 panel 2?

    Thanks

    Re: Hide PanelHeader

There are a few ways to do this. Attached are 2 sets of UX components... Test and Test2. You don't say how you get to UX2PC2 from UX2PC1.

The "Test" UX components set the display of the header to none or block. I don't like this because it may affect the layout of whatever is in the panelcard. You're changing the available height and so it may have undesirable effects.

Test2 is far more interesting and more fun. The embedded UX has no headers at all. Everything is controlled by the parent UX. Using a JS function named navPC() we control navigation using namespace variables. Generally, we navigate to where we want to go and set the variables up to where we want to go next.

When the UX is first displayed... PC1... we can only go to PC2... so the Next button is hardcoded to go there.
In UX1PC2 the Back button can do 2 things depending on the state of the emebedded UX. But... it's preset, using namespace variables set in onRenderComplete to go to UX1PC1.

In UX1PC2 the Next button can only go to UX2PC2... so it's hardcoded using the child UX Object. Then we set up our navigation namespace variables for the Back button to go to UX2PC1.
As well... once in UX2PC2 there is not place to go for the Next button... so we hide it.

We hit the Back button while in UX2PC2 and, because of the namespace vars, we go to UX2PC1... and in doing so... we then set up the Back button again... but to go to UX1PC1. We also now show the Next button.

It's a bit of a "who's on first" scenario... but works out quite well.

      Re: Hide PanelHeader

      Hello Dave,

The zip files are empty. That is they have nothing in them and reported type is unknown.
"You don't say how you get to UX2PC2 from UX2PC1."
UX_2 is an Embedded Object of UX_1.

Could you give it another shot or am I missing something.

      Thanks

There's only 1 zip file... containing 4 components. I just downloaded it... and opened it... looks ok.

Understood... UX_2 is an embedded component of UX_1. I was wondering how you transition UX2_PC1 to UX2_PC2. I don't think you detailed that.

4 individual files attached... not zipped.

What version/build of Alpha are you using?

Oh... ok... I don't think that version has the save format property. I use a current version of Alpha and save UX components as Formatted JSON.

Here's a binary version, although I'm not sure what the effect with be in 2999.

You should include your Alpha Version and Build on every post. Vast changes and improvements since 2999.

At least it might save a lot of back and forth.

                Hi Dave,

I did finally get your example working, brilliant!! Very impressive.
I didn't explain my problem very well but through your efforts, I was able to write the code I needed to achieve success.
                Thank you so much.
