Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    iOS7 Style Inside A GrBlue TabbedUI

    The new ink component requires the iOS7 style but my project is using GrBlue style.

    If I design a UX with an ink control using iOS7 style for the UX it renders properly as expected:

    iOS7 Component.png

    But if I run the UX inside my GrBlue TabbedUI, it does not render properly. There are missing buttons for the ink control and the pen button that is visible doesn't work correctly:

    iOS7 Rendered In GrBlue TabbedUI.png

    If I change the TabbedUI to iOS7 and run the UX it looks and functions fine:

    My question is, how do you force a component to use the iOS7 style in a TabbedUI that uses GrBlue?
    I don't want to change my whole project to iOS7 because a large project like this would take way too much effort to convert.

    Okay, I think I figured it out. Mostly.

    The UX has a Local CSS Definitions property. I used this to import the iOS7 style.

    Import CSS.png iOS7 CSS Stylesheet.png

    Now after running inside the GrBlue TabbedUI it mostly renders properly. All the ink control buttons show now and they all work, but some of the icons are still not showing. I think this might be in the ink property layout somewhere.

    After Import Local.png

    Sorry if this is old hat to most people but I have a heck of a time figuring out CSS in Alpha. Was this the right approach?

      I haven't tried this, but the icons are probably coming from the @font-face stuff.

      Code:
      @font-face {
        font-family: 'A5_iOS7Icons';
        src: url(A5_iOS7Icons.eot);
        src: url(A5_iOS7Icons.eot) format("embedded-opentype"), url(A5_iOS7Icons.woff) format("woff"), url(A5_iOS7Icons.ttf) format("truetype"), url(A5_iOS7Icons.svg) format("svg"); }
      You'll find these files in the CSS\iOS7 folder. Trying copying the files to your GrBlue folder so that they can be found. Not sure about the .svg file... it's not there.

      The eraser image is actually svg... so... not sure about that. The ink was referencing {style}... but now it looks like it's referencing a theme... and there's no inline info about that. Overall, when working with a different style, all the class names disappear... so again... not sure what's going on.

      If you want to post a sample UX with just the ink control and the Local CSS set so that things are almost working I'd have a look.

        in the tabbedui component look for additional grid styles and add ios7 style there and check if the dialog/ux displays as expected. may be that will help.
        it is not the local css in the ux, but the master in the tabbed ui that is taking control, it does not know the classes in ios7 style. so if you add there in the tabbed then it will become aware i am sure.

          David, thanks for the feedback, I'm not sure where the svg files are either.

          Ghandi, your suggestion worked. I added iOS7 to the additional grid style property of the TabbedUI and now it finds the icons and everything works great!

            Well, my joy was fairly short-lived. In working preview it looks good, but once I published to IIS Server, this is what I end up with:

            Working Preview
            Under Working Preview.jpg

            IIS Server
            Not Rendered IIS.jpg

            The iOS7 css style is getting published to the inetpub directory on IIS Server so I have no clue why this doesn't work.

              Did you ever solve this problem? I have the same issue with the preview showing one set of icons (horizontal) and the server showing a different set (vertical). The server icons display vertical and cause problems when a user tries to enter the ink data.

                Ted, no I still have the same issue with this.
                I even asked Dan Bricklin about it at DevCon 2016 and did not get a satisfactory answer. Since he's the guy who developed the control, I don't know what else to do about it.

                Perhaps if we both submit this as a bug report they might have a look at it.
