Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Javascript : adding x days to a date

    Hi,
    I have a date field in a ux, I would like to have the date of next week (adding 7 days to the date).
    I tried few chunk of codes I found online but I did not have any success...
    The result should be a normal simple date format "26/07/2016" since I want to show it in another textbox.

    Thank you for your help,

    Thank you for your help,

    if you want to add the next week day on the date picker textbox, go to your date textbox, initial value, put this code ---> =date()+7
    Then you want to show it in another textbox, on your datepicker textbox -> on change event :
    Code:
    //Read value in 'LASTNAME' field.
    var mydate = {dialog.object}.getValue('TEXTBOX1');
    {dialog.object}.setValue('TEXTBOX2',mydate);
    if you want to do that in xbasic code ---> Dim myDate as D = date()+7

      If you're selecting a date from a date textbox and you want to auto-fill another textbox with a the date a week later, you could do this...

      In the onChange event of your Date Textbox...

      Code:
      var d1 = new Date();
      d1.fromFormat(this.value,'dd/MM/yyyy');
      d1.setDate(d1.getDate()+7);
      var d2 = d1.toFormat('dd/MM/yyyy');
      {dialog.Object}.setValue('date2',d2);
      Since you're in the onChange event of a textbox, you can use this.value to get it's current value.
      Get that value, turn it into a date object, add 7 days, format it the way you need, and set the 2nd Date textbox.

        Thank You David,
        I am posting my code since I had to do a small change to your code make it work.
        When I tried :
        var d1 = {dialog.object}.getValue('FromDate')
        d1.fromFormat(this.value,'dd/MM/yyyy');
        I was receiving an error message saying fromFormat is not available. While I am sure the "FromDate" textbox is of type DATE. I also tried changing it to type TIME with no success.

        This is what worked

        var mSess = {dialog.object}.getValue('No_Of_Sessions');
        for (i = 0; i < mSess; i++) {
        var d1 = {dialog.object}.getValue('FromDate');
        var parts =d1.split('/');
        var d1 = new Date(parts[2],parts[1]-1,parts[0]);
        d1.fromFormat(this.value,'dd/MM/yyyy');
        d1.setDate(d1.getDate()+(i*7));
        var d1 = d1.toFormat('dd/MM/yyyy');
        {dialog.object}.setValue('EndD',d1) ;
        alert(d1);

          instead try this:
          var d1 = {dialog.Object}.getValue('FROMDATE');
          d1 = new Date(d1);
          var d2 = d1.setDate(d1.getDate() + 7);
          d2 = new Date(d2);
          {dialog.Object}.setValue('ENDD', d2.toFormat('dd/MM/yyyy'));

              Paul, this must be just a portion of your code. From what's posted the loop is not closed. I'm not sure why you're using a loop if you're setting the same value for EndD on each iteration.

              .fromFormat is for creating a date object from a string. If you're already working with a date object then .fromFormat is not needed.

                Hi David,
                It's true this is just a part, I am doing a for loop because I have a Nbre of appointments and want to save in a separate table each appointment date (weekly).
                As an example: I want 4 appointments weekly, starting 27-7-2017. Before the end of the loop I am calling an ajax callback to save in a table each appointment (date and time).
                I am also adding a time from another separate field. it is then displayed in a web2cal.
                I think I could have done it all in the ajax callback in xbasic, it may be easier but I just want to learn more of JavaScript, Which I know very little of.. :)...
                it also gives me the flexibility to add it to a list control (instead of using ajax callback) where it could be synchronized later to the table.
                Thank you again for your help,

                Ghandi: I think Javascript is not liking that my date are formatted dd/MM/yyyy when I use just : d1 = new Date(d1) then I get a wrong date (d1 is formated "dd/MM/yyyy", the result is a date but instead of 27/7/2016 I get 27/02/2018 or something similar (weird).
                that's why I ended up using :
                var parts =d1.split('/');
                var d1 = new Date(parts[2],parts[1]-1,parts[0])
                I am specifying the day,month and year as separated fields... then I am getting the right date

                As I said I am don't have a lot of knowledge in javascript... I am not sure if what I am saying make sense..

                Regards,
