Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

PhoneGap Issue iOS Ajax Not Working

So I am converting my web app over to phonegap and have run into an issue where my Ajax won't work on iOS (it works on android). I have a button that just runs a simple xbasic function to call the server and return an alert message (per the instructions in the phone gap build settings when setting the Ajax URL). This button (and all other Ajax callbacks) work fine on a Galaxy S5, but I can't get it to work on an iPhone 6S. Has anyone else experienced this (having Ajax only work on one platform), do I need to have a certain plugin in order for Ajax to work on iOS?

Hopefully someone will have some insight on this issue.

There is no difference between callbacks under Android and iOS... nothing special needs to be done regarding iOS.

Your iPhone 6S has been added to your Developer Account Devices and Provisioning Profile? You've created and unlocked the Key for iOS in PhoneGap Build?

Everything on phone gap build is showing as working, I can get the app on my 6S using the QR code and the app opens up fine its just the callback that is failing, or are you suggesting that phone gap build could still work and the app could still end up on my phone but if my device isn't set up correctly in the devices and provisioning profile that could stop the Ajax from working?

Re: PhoneGap Issue iOS Ajax Not Working

If your device and provisioning profile aren't set up for your device, then the app won't install... just thought I'd check.

Under PhoneGap Build, a Key has been added to your iOS Build and unlocked... is that right?

I don't have a 6S. Do you have any other iOS devices you could test with? Overall... I've never seen this behaviour if everything is set up correctly.

Yes everything looks to be setup correct in the phone gap builder, app is installing onto my device. I will rummage through some drawers and see if I have another working iOS device to try.

I tested on two other iOS devices and still no Ajax callbacks, Selwyn has gotten in contact with me about this so it looks like this is definitely a strange issue. I'll be updating this thread if we come up with anything.

What build/version of Alpha are you running? I build and test callbacks under iOS all day. However... not on a 6S.

Not working on 6s or 5s (don't think the phone is the issue or the iOS version on the phone). Running 12.4.2 Build 3670 and the system addins is Build 4684.

Just tested with that Alpha/build version and the callback is working. Plugins included for Device, Network Information, Splash Screen and Whitelist. PhoneGap Version cli-6.1.0. I wonder what else could be interfering?

I'm not on the newest phone gap build, do I update within alpha or do I do it on the phone gap build site? Maybe thats the issue?

Disregard that really dumb question, I didn't realize the phone gap build was dropdown! Testing this now!

I just tested with that exact same configuration and it didn't work. Do you have an SSL? I'm starting to believe this is what is causing the issue or the load balancer. Selwyn suggested setting up a component and using the development server and my phone on the same network to test without SSL on, I plan to try this tomorrow or this weekend as I will need to set a virtual machine on my Mac and download a fresh copy of AA to it in order to test this but will first need to find a working version of windows as I don't know if I have one anymore. Will update if I find out anything! Thanks for all the help!

Oh... didn't know you were behind SSL and a Load Balancer.

I've mentioned in other posts that what a we need at the beginning of a question is a "Here's what I've got" section. Then the question. That would probably cut subsequent posts in half.

No... I'm not running SSL or a Load Balancer... so that adds quite a few variables.

Yeah I didn't even think about that being an issue since everything is working fine on android but when I started seeing an SSL alert occasionally on my Galaxy S5 I got suspicious (figured it was possible Android was letting something slip through the cracks that iOS wasn't). Hopefully I'll be able to get a test environment up and running so I can test this theory soon.

                              You were seeing SSL alerts?
