Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Signature in HTML reports

So I've tried everything I can to get a signature control to print on a HTML report to no avail. I've used the advanced options to override the field to PNG, and I've tried to add the field to the report as best fit, absolute, and stretch. Also, I tried to add the image in a static HTML field and that failed. I can get the signature to print on a PDF report fine but PDF reports don't seem to render well on mobile (I'll take a fix for this latter problem if someone has one, but right now "when" the report runs, as sometimes it just opens up a blank screen, it only shows the upper left portion of the report in the window and the window isn't scrollable or zoomable). I am opening the PDF and HTML reports in a ajax window that is set up like a panel with scrolling turned on. I've tried to open the report in a dynamic panel and a normal panel as well and still couldn't get the scrolling or zooming to work with the PDF report.

As a final note, the layout table report that I am trying to open as an HTML report is the absolute layout report I previously built converted into a table layout report (ie I didn't rebuild the report from scratch and really trying to avoid this as its not going to be an easy report to build as a table layout report).

    Re: Signature in HTML reports

What version/build of Alpha are you using?

I don't know about the Layout Table report... I'm not a fan. But using the Free Form report you do override the data source signature field changing it from memo to PNG Image. Your data source... your table field, must be base64 in the format data:image/png:base64,iVBORw...

If you're opening the report with the Action Javascript Open a Report, Label or Letter Layout then the Initial View property should be set to HTML-Paged. HTML-Paged is fairly new and is available to both Free Form and Layout Table reports... and is designed for use in both Web and Mobile applications. Have a look in the release notes for more info on the HTML-Paged option.

    This does work.

      Re: Signature in HTML reports

I am on the most current released build (3670-4684).

I should've mentioned that I attempted the HTML-Paged option and this made the report do all kinds of weird things (HTML with a layout table report renders perfect but no signatures, PDF has signatures but I can't scroll the report or zoom it out to see the whole thing), but with the HTML-paged option the signature fields (2 of them) turned into one massive black box and was rendering over top another portion of the report. Also, the right edge of the report gets cut off and some of the fields of the report are rendering out of order or completely in the wrong spot.

The signature is being saved into a longblob field in a MySQL database, I don't see any options to set up base64 encoding within the table creation so is this a setting I set for the whole database or something I need to do on the alpha end when the signature gets saved? As mentioned in my first post the longblob has worked perfectly for PDF reports but seems to fall apart on these other ones (and I spent a ton of time getting them to work on PDF reports, even having to rebuild the report from scratch a couple times with no other changes other than the name of the report to make sure it wasn't grabbing any old code from a previously saved report).
