Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

  • Generating Multiple PDF Server Side

What I would need to do is when a user click a button (or any other way) that on the server it generates PDF for all the different store inventory.

So I have a table that has all the ID of the stores and an other table that has all the sotre inventory. What I want to be able to do is generate a PDF called sotreid.pdf for all the different store.

These could be stored on a folder on the server, directly in the MySQL database as a blob or transfered via FTP.

Just not to sure if this is feasable in Alpha Anywhere.

Already made the report and placed it next to each store on a grid and works perfectly but can only do 1 by 1.

    Thanks again

Hard to answer your question based on what you have said.
Are you trying to create a report that lists all the inventory for all stores? or are you trying to create a report that lists only certain inventory items for all stores?
I would assume you have the storeid in the inventory table, is that correct? If so, then create a 'view' in MySQL that includes all the inventory fields you need linked to the table with the stroeid and include all the fields from that table you need. Then create a report based on that view.

Re: Generating Multiple PDF Server Side

      Hi Mike,

Already am able to generate the report for 1 stores, what I want to accomplish is to be able to generate a PDF report for each store in the table (I have 830 stores). I would like to be able to generate a report called storeid.pdf for each store and place them on a folder on the server.

Before (in FileMaker) I would have a machine and it owuld generate all the reports and place them in a folder on the shared drive. So I would have on that drive store001.pdf, store002.pdf etc

Is their a way to accomplish that in AA?

Re: Generating Multiple PDF Server Side

I have a routine that prints all invoices to a file in a shared folder. It then adds the filename to MySQL table. The user then uses a grid that shows all the files (they can search if they want) and if they want to download or view it they just click a button.

Are you looking for something like that?

Yes that's exactly what I would need, would it be ok for you to share the code and how you did this?

I will be glad to do that. I will try to get it today, if not first thing in morning.
