Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Detail View Mapping Problem with primary key

I keep getting this 'Map primary key field(s) to List query field(s)' error. My query is a simple inner join between two tables. The primary key for both tables is in the field list of my list control. In my list's Table Properties the joined table's primary key is in fact entered. Pics below.

What am I missing here?? ...it's driving me crazy.

Try changing the Permissions for the contact table to read only.

That allows me to save the list component but then my table is read only.

Ok... you didn't say you wanted to update contacts.

Not a lot of info to go on here... so it's just guesswork.

In your image for the contact table you're showing the Primary Key field to be id... but you're mapping it to Contact_ID. Is the key for both tables id?

And you've set an alias for the contact table key id to Contact_ID? I believe Alpha has trouble resolved this.

Instead, give your PatientPhysician table key id an alias... let's say ppID... and leave your contact table id as id... no alias.

Now map your tables in the List detail accordingly and it should be ok.

Thanks David, I'll give that a go.

            Mike,

I am running into the same issue. Were you able to resolve this?

Re: Detail View Mapping Problem with primary key

Decided to take a completely different approach for my needs. I didn't end up trying David's suggestion in post #4 so I would start there.

                Mike, David, and Greg,

It seems like this function of AA is still not working even v4.5.3, build 4845.

                Job
                -- Address w/alias as address_s
                -- Address w/alias as address_b

                My job table has
                -- site_address_id
                -- billing_address_id

My SQL Join looks like this:

                FROM (job job
                LEFT OUTER JOIN address address_s
                ON job.site_address_id = address_s.id_address
                LEFT OUTER JOIN address address_b
                ON job.billing_address_id = address_b.id_address )

In the Detail section, Table Properties of the List Control I have:

                job.PNGaddress_site.PNG

Then I get the map primary key error message:

                mapPrimaryKeyError.PNG

                Thanks,

                Michael Carroll

Yeah, I've also had this issue pop up repeatedly. Like Mike, I also decided "to take a completely different approach", since nothing would solve the issue. It's too bad, because in my case that was the easiest route to take, but instead ended up going the long way around to make things work.
