Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: Need Help With Conditional Expression

I only get incorrect results when PartQuantity and PartMinQty have the Transform Data Type in the List Fields tab set to none. What version of SQL Server are you using?

      Using SQL Server 2008 R2.

It's like the list property ToNumber isn't working for me. I think I'm seeing what Pat said above in response #2.

When all the values are single digits, the conditional logic works fine. When I get to double digits, the logic stops working.

Re: Need Help With Conditional Expression

Instead of using Transform Data Type (set it back to None) and then apply the Javascript Number() function directly to your Condition Statements. This works as well.

          David,

          That works!!! Good.jpg

It makes no sense to me that it doesn't work for me with the transform data tonumber property .. this has to be some type of bug. I'll see on Tuesday if Alpha will be willing to investigate.
But I'm happy with using the Javascript function directly, at least I can get the right results.

Thanks so much for persisting with me on this .. you are the best dude!

Excellent...glad that works. Alpha is such an open environment. If you can't get it done one way... find another... there is usually another.

Might have something to do with SQL Server 2008. Since 2008 is pretty much out of support you should update to SQL Server 2016. The Development Version of 2016 is free.

Stephen, I am happy you found the solution
but I have a silly question, just for my knowledge:
ToNumberSimple uses javascript Number() function, so I am surprised to see that it did not work, but the Number() itself works.
              my question is
you have two fields, one data.QUANTITY and the other data.MINQTY. I know you applied ToNumberSimple to data.QUANTITY, did you apply the same to data.QTY?
since your logic compares the values of one against another both needs to be of the same kind to yield correct results, correct?
so the question is did you? otherwise you are comparing integer against a character value.

edit: before all started, in the first post itself.

                Hi Ghandi,

That's a good thought but yes I applied the transform to both QTY and MINQTY but it still wouldn't work. It is really puzzling.

Maybe David is right about something to do with the SQL version, though it's just a numeric data type and doesn't seem to be deprecated. When I used static data it worked okay. I dunno.

Ghandi... if you follow the posts you'll see that I sent Stephen a working test component... working because both fields were set for Transform Data Type.
