Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Web Profile Setup Problem

Sorry if this has been posted before- I am probably not smart enough to find the correct search term.

I am trying to do the web app tutorial- finally gonna start migrating some applications to the web- but I can't get the Profile Settings to work. When I go to Web --> Project Settings I get the following error:

    snip.PNG

    Script:profile_change() line:2768
    Property not found
    LayoutPropSheet.object.Rebind method not found.

I have tried creating a new local profile, but that doesn't work either...

    Any thots?

    Thanks,

    Chuck

Try creating a brand new system from scratch in a new directory. Does it work from there?

      Re: Web Profile Setup Problem

Are you setting up a local, lan, or http, etc. profile type? Also it might help ohers if you say what actual version your using, although I cannot remember the last time that side of it was altered, seems like it's been that way awhile.
The error your generating/seeing isn't exactly the type of error that tells you to fix a certain setting over another - it's pretty cryptic to me. Like larry suggested, just delete the profile and start over with your settings. I think a local server should be fine to begin testing with although I was adamant about doing all of my testing FROM the beginning - live on my site.
I just wanted to create and upload a page, then add a grid, then add security and so on and so forth. I didn't want to learn it in "theory" because I am so very much a hands on guy. Intangibles are lost on me. You have to show me a variable, lol!
      Made learning tough!

Anyways, so what type of publishing profile are you trying to setup?

        Re: Web Profile Setup Problem

This error occurs when I launch the Web --> Project Settings function. This is a new workspace setup for the sole purpose of doing the building a web app tutorial. The error occurs before a profile is selected to edit. The only profile is the default "local" one. This is AA latest patch; win 10 (might be the problem).

When the error occurs and is acknowledged, the area where you edit the profile is a "cannot display page" page (like a 404 message).

Development server set to port 8080, but I have also tried 81 with the same result.

        Thanks for the help.

PS: This is only happening on my home machine; on my work machine, everything works as expected.

I would say - uninstall and reinstall Alpha on the home machine.

If that doesn't work, consider what software on the home machine might be conflicting with Alpha. For instance, why do you have to move to port 8080? What is on port 80 now?

Turn off other programs that might be interfering to see if you can make it work.
