Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

UX controls not rendering on Chrome mobiles?

Having a strange issue that I really don't know where to dig, was hoping for anyone else that maybe experienced this or can help tell me where to look. Here's a video showing the issue, I think it will serve more than a paragraph of explanations. It does the same thing across the few mobiles I tested on, Firefox seems to do better but I have seen it do this once while testing across various browsers on one device. If anyone wants to log in and see it first hand, drop me a PM and I can give you a test account to log in with.

It is just a bunch of controls without breaks in a component. It never has a problem I have been able to see on PCs.

I am using Alpha Anywhere Version 4.2 (Powered by v12) 12.4.2, Build 3670
    System Addins Build 4684

This sounds like a style issue to me, as a test I would delete one of the controls that isn't working as expected and create another one, in fact just duplicate one that works and edit to do what you want it to do as a test of course. Is this a single UX?

It would be interesting to inspect the page on the mobile device and see what HTML it received. I wonder if it would show that some element has a height that is too large?
Here's an article I found for inspecting Chrome on mobile using PC attached via USB:

I am not so sure. I tried to show in the video that it's really like just an actual rendering issue, if I perform an action that forces a redraw of the screen, all the controls typically appear. (clicking in a blank area I know the controls exist, hitting the help button, etc.) I did try deleting a couple of the ones that never seem to appear with the first control, remapped and it doesn't make a difference.

OK, well at least that's something to look into! I mean for now I have everyone that was experiencing the issue (some older androids using chrome) using Firefox. It renders just fine on my phone (Nexus 6p) that is running the same version of Chrome. This is why I was leaning toward it being more an issue of how the device/chrome is interpreting the page.

I haven't found anything to be the cause, but then again I may not be looking hard enough. The issue appears when using Opera and Chrome, but only on a mobile device. Firefox mobile has yet to have this issue. Very strange. Anyway, thanks so much for the heads up on using the developer tools connected via android debugging. That's insanely useful when breaking down the elements and padding, using the actual target device!
