Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Group Breaks in List with Detail View

Is anyone else having issues with dynamic images in a list with a detail view not firing off the javascript code tied to the image.

I have a component with a Panel layout and two panel cards (one for the list and one for the detail view). Click an edit icon in the list and the detail view would be shown from its docked position (the panel layout doesn't have docked icons set up for it, just using the panelSetActive method). This works perfectly fine when the list doesn't have group breaks (client or server side), but once I implement group breaks the dynamic image in the list (edit icon) will work for some records at the top of the list but eventually it will stop firing and any record below the record where it stops working won't fire off the javascript code (which in this newest component I built just to see if I could reproduce the error only has {dialog.object}.panelSetActive('PANELCARD_2',true); method on it to show the second panel with the detail view fields).

I've tested this with a bunch of different records and can't seem to find a common denominator between the records that start to make it fail. And sometimes (depending on the date range I use) a record will cause the javascript to not fire but if I widen the date range (brining in more records) all the sudden the record that use to not work will and a record further down will cause the javascript to stop firing.

This seems like really odd behavior and surprisingly anywhere else I am using group breaks I open up a bound UX for editing rather than a detail view of the list so I haven't ran into this yet. My group breaks are on a date field and I have tried multiple different formats in the client side group break settings to see if that was causing the issue (nothing seemed to change). Hopefully I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Side note I do have the original component published to our site and looked at the console in both safari and chrome to see if I could find an error firing when I tried clicking the button but there weren't any errors or warnings.

What error or warning are you getting when it STOPS working? Are you getting an error? Also, you don't explain what is failing. Are you getting an incorrect image? Are you getting a broken image? What, exactly, is the failure?

You say it won't fire the javascript code - but is it not firing or is it erroring out? After it stops working, will it still work for earlier records that worked before or does it break it until you refresh?

No error message in working preview (javascript of o'clock event for dynamic image in a list just stops working).

No error message when checking the developer console in safari, mozilla, or chrome (same as above).

I have put something as simple as a javascript alert on the onClick event of the dynamic image to just see if the code is firing and nothing would fire and as noted above the code would fire up to a certain record in the list and then it would stop firing and would fire for any record below that one record (i.e. this was to check to make sure that my javascript code on the button wasn't causing the issue).

Refreshing the list has no effect except if I bring more records back from the server then a record further down would be the one that breaks it (ie its not always the same record that breaks the javascript code from firing).

So, you have javascript on the dynamic image. When you click the dynamic image, you are expecting some code to fire, but on certain records, the code on the dynamic image stops working. The image is displaying correctly - but when you click on it, nothing happens? Have you looked at the image in the developer console to see what is in the click event of the image at that point or how it differs from the images that DO work?

I can't remember if I drilled down the console to the individual records so I will give that a shot.

So I came across this issue again but this time it is a list that doesn't have a detail view (rather the dynamic image in the list opens a UX in another window). I am still having the issue where the javascript works for certain records and then at a certain point stops working. I have opened the developer console in safari and chrome and drilled down the the div that is holding the dynamic image but I don't see any javascript data attached to it (no onClick event within the HTML for any row in the list). As soon as I get rid of group breaking then it starts working again. I can't believe I am the only person experiencing issues with this but I have yet to see anything else on the message boards which is very concerning.
