Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: Report repeating values

perhaps, a combination of what stan has suggested in post #2 and arguments for the start date and end date will do.
instead all the sum fields in the sql, just select all the fields and let the report do the calculation for you.

      Re: Report repeating values

      Code:
      SELECT OrderItems.SalesTaxName, OrderItems.SalesTax, OrderItems.User_Company_ID AS User_Company_ID, Tax.TaxNumber, OrderInfo.PODATE
      FROM (OrderItems OrderItems
      	 INNER JOIN Tax Tax
      		 ON OrderItems.SalesTaxName = Tax.TaxName AND OrderItems.User_Company_ID = Tax.User_Company_ID
      	 INNER JOIN OrderInfo OrderInfo
      		 ON OrderItems.User_Company_ID = OrderInfo.User_Company_ID AND OrderItems.ORDERINFO_ID = OrderInfo.ORDERINFO_ID )
drop the group by clause and follow everything stan has said in post #2. that will give a report for all the dates, since you want to check the date range add two arguments,
startDate and endDate, and point those to the PODATE. you will be set to go.
i see you want more group breaks, i am sure repeating the group breaks on those fields will accomplish that.

        Re: Report repeating values

I took away the sum() on the SalesTaxTotal and did that in the report with total(SalesTaxTotal) calculated field. Added PODATE and the date filtering works. Then created a group based on SalesTaxName. Works as shown. But now the issue is the space between the values. The space is actually all the other records just not being shown. As I add more records the space gets larger. I've selected the "Can Shrink" but still can't figure out how to get rid of the space.

        Code:
        SELECT OrderItems.SalesTaxName, OrderItems.SalesTax, OrderItems.SalesTaxTotal AS totalTax, OrderItems.User_Company_ID AS User_Company_ID, Tax.TaxNumber, OrderInfo.PODATE
        FROM (OrderItems OrderItems
        	 INNER JOIN Tax Tax
        		 ON OrderItems.SalesTaxName = Tax.TaxName AND OrderItems.User_Company_ID = Tax.User_Company_ID
        	 INNER JOIN OrderInfo OrderInfo
        		 ON OrderItems.User_Company_ID = OrderInfo.User_Company_ID AND OrderItems.ORDERINFO_ID = OrderInfo.ORDERINFO_ID )
        GROUP BY OrderInfo.PODATE, OrderItems.SalesTaxTotal, Tax.TaxNumber, OrderItems.SalesTaxName, OrderItems.User_Company_ID, OrderItems.SalesTax

        AND
it works the way you just described also. Taking out the Group By and adding them in as #2. But the same thing. That extra space is there.

          Re: Report repeating values

go to the report design and select the bottom or the segment in question put the cursor at the dark line, it will change to adjust arrow. pull up make it segment narrow till you are satisfied. don't bother how it looks in the designer, look at the result to judge.

It's already up. Here's the screen shot. Is that what you were referring to?

                    Re: Report repeating values

One more question for you. Is there a way to take the date field on the UX component that filters the report and put THAT date on the report instead of the first found record date in the range?

I have the 2 date fields, StartDate and EndDate which filter the report.

I have these 2 calculated fields which show the first and the last date in the range.

                    fst_SQLDATASOURCE_podate_for_Grand = first(SQLDATASOURCE->podate,grp->Grand,grp->detail)
                    lst_SQLDATASOURCE_podate_for_Grand = last(SQLDATASOURCE->podate,grp->Grand,grp->detail)

I would ideally like to show the StartDate and EndDate from the form date fields on the UX.

really it was stan who deserves credit, he gave you answer in the first reply, if he did not ask about dbf you would not have taken the exit for scenic route, i was merely getting you back to where you were.

glad to see it sorted out anyway.
